What is this.....and why is it "humming"?

New 2021 16' Caravel. Have about 2000 miles. It's been sitting in my driveway for a week and plugged into Shore power, but nothing is running except fridge.

Something in this rat's nest mess started humming and vibrating yesterday. I've disconnect shore power then replugged, and it's still humming. I believe it's the Pentair Surflo.

I don't see any alarm indicators on anything.

Any suggestions? I'm about ready to hitch up and take off for a trip.

Thanks. Yvonne

Yvonne,

Pentair Shurflo is the water pump. While it's humming try turning the water on and off. The water pump makes a fairly rapid pulsing sound. If it affects the hum at least you're on focus for the source. Let us know.

EDIT
And having some water in the fresh tank might help too for the test run.

Gary

Yvonne,

If the humming is coming from under the dinette bench, street side, that’s where the water pump is. If the pump is on and any faucet is on just a little bit, the pump will run with a slowly. Make sure every faucet is completely off (galley sink, shower, and outside shower). If the fresh water tank is empty, you don’t want the water pump to run very long or it can be damaged. If all faucets are off and it is the pump making the sound, you could have a link, but I think that unlikely in your new Caravel.

FYI, you didn’t say where the humming sound was coming from.

Turn off the inverter and see if the sound goes away.

Turn off fridge. It may be the cooling fan on the fridge.

hummmmmmmm

the electric only fridge in my new basecamp 20 hummmms and hummmms when turned up to higher cool, goes away when I turn the fridge temp down to 4\5.. water pump does hum when there isnt any water to pump, just experienced it when flushing the toilet in boondocking mode, , and it didn't stop till I turned off the pump, was wondering when it was going to stop and knew it woudlnt' be good to let it continue like that, turning off the pump did the trick to get that specific hum to stop, unplugging from shore power doesn't reset the pump as it runs on battery power.

IF I'm wrong about anything please let me know I'm still new to this myself and am learning bit by bit

Thanks everyone. Yes, it was the water pump. I must have bumped the switch accidentally. The thank was empty so I hope I didn’t damage it. I’ve just set up camp and filled the tank and the faucet is working…at least for now. Thanks to you all for you input. Yvonne
