Streamline

Hi. My name's Ed and I'm not quite sure if I'd be welcomed here because I own a 62' Streamline Dutchess, not an Airstream. The structure and components are similar.
I'm in the process of restoring this trailer and the problems I'm running into are much the same as what I've been reading others as having and all the helpful advise and information they've been given. So,if it's OK with the members,I'd like to belong to this forum,if not then I'll log off and just read the forums instead.

Welcome, Ed! We have members here who own Avions and other silver trailers. We are close cousins, at least! As you say, you'll find solutions to common problems on this forum and in the search file. Ask questions, search, and post pictures so we can share, and who knows, maybe someday an Airstream will join your herd! ~G

Welcome Ed, Please stay a while and since you are here, post some pictures of your project. Most, if not all, of us are into the RV way of life and everyone is welcome. Although many of us are afflicted with all things Airstream, we like to see other vintage RV's too. Post away and ask all the questions you can - we will learn as much from you as we hope you learn from us.

Thank's for wecoming me into the trailer Aluminati. It helps to have others who share your passion as well as the trials and tribulations of working on these silver land yachts. I do have some pictures of when I first brought this Streamline from California, across Highway 50 in Nevada to my home in Moab, Utah last fall. When I figure out how to post pictures I will.

Welcome Ed,

If it is aluminum.... well, you're in! There is a little search function on the top toolbar, key in "post pictures" and perhaps you will find something. I know one of the moderators have a good link with directions somewhere... maybe in the portal under new members somewhere... good luck. Looking forward to pics soon!

Hi, Ed. Welcome. After you have meandered through the forums for a while, you'll notice an area created especially for non-Airstream products. Many subjects have already been discussed there, maybe even some things you are having trouble with.

As long as it is shiny and round

Streamlines are cool too, I have one or two of the sales catalogs.
They were ahead of their time

Hi, Ed

A Silver Streak owner here. There is a "good beginning" on the Vintage Kin sub-forum for the rest of us. I'll enjoy seeing pictures of your Streamline (my grandparents had one a few years later than yours, kept it until the late 1970's.)

Yes, this site has been an enormous help and inspiration in keeping an older trailer on the road. I especially enjoy viewing the restoration work of others, and the fine ideas expressed in pictures. I wouldn't consider making a purchase without checking here. I may go elsewhere, but this is one fine group to stick with.

Hope you've also seen the Toms' Web Page site, quite a good collection of Streamlines there. I just paged over here after reading and posting on the S/S Mailing List. Tom's site is Ground Zero in some respects.

I occasionally see Streamlines here in Texas, maybe a dozen over the past year. Only one that was on the road, but several others that may have been capable.

I also have a Streamline 26' Countess but no one seems to know what the year of the trailer is?.Do you have these catalogs on cd. These could help to identify the year of our trailer

Post pictures, front, rear (especially) and sides. No data tag? (riveted on, I think). Are there tags/plates on any appliances? Axles? Granted all may have been changed but a few that indicate 1966 might mean a trailer of that year or the following.

Try downloading the brochures from here: Streamline Brochures Listing Page. The old link must have changed something.

The link above is the top link on this page: Houston Chapter Streamline Royal Rovers.

The root of the website is: Toms' Web Page.

Hi I looked all over my 62' Duchess and serial # and name plate gave no indication of a date. Judging by the front gold rock guard, and round Bargeman tail lights I'd say your Streamlie is somewhere between 64' and 67'. The fridge, hot H2O heater,or furnace might have a manufacturing date.If you have to pick a date to register it,I'd pick the oldest,1964.

One of those models was parked next to an auction house a while back, and then it went somewhere...but it was fun to look at!
