Just ordered 31' Classic w/Dinette
Hi Everyone:
My wife and I have just ordered our first Airstream, a 31' Classic with the Dinette. Like most campers we have done the whole gamut starting with a tent, then a tent trailer or pop-up, travel trailer, and lastly a 35' Fifth Wheel. However, we wanted to do some more travelling with the trailer and found the fifth wheel restrictive in the campgrounds we could go to and all-in-all just too darn big. We are looking forward to downsizing both our trailer and our tow vehicle. Trouble is we have to wait until May until we get it.
This forum was very useful in helping us making our decision to go with Airstream.
Happy Camping

Dan and Cheryl, welcome and congrats on ordering your Airstream! Sounds like you have a bit of a wait ahead of you, so here's hoping the time passes quickly until you are out camping. Happy travels ~

Hi Dan and Cheryl, Congrats on a great rig, I like the idea of the dinette. Of course you must post pictures just as soon as you can.
Great Holidays,
as visions of Airstreams dance over your head....

31' w/ dinette
Dan & Cheryl, we are on our 2nd. 30' w/ dinette Airstream and wouldn't have any other model. We did not like the slide-out version which we felt took away some or the features we liked in our old one (I know Jack, you don't agree).
Our trailer which we bought used came from CanAm. If that is who you're dealing with I would have only one warning. If you are considering a Hensley hitch, don't let CanAm install it. They are the only Hensley dealer that welds the strut receivers to the frame. They should be put on with U- bolts that will "give" in a real tight turn. We didn't know this and on one of our first trips bent a strut doing just that. Thank goodness for Jarrod at the Hensley factory. He sent a new strut out and talked me home from the trip.
(I should post this on the Hensley Forum). Do love the Hensley, though.
Anywhooo... be patient, good luck and Pat and I will see you down the road.

Hi Dan and Cheryl- Congratulations! What a wonderful AS! I had the pleasure to see one and it is something! The wait will go quickly and you will be on the road in no time. Meanwhile, relax and enjoy the winter. At least you don't have to look outside everyday and see your AS just sitting there wasting for spring!

Nice!
Is the factory full from now until next May? That seems like an awfully long time.

Maybe they are full to capacity right now. If the order was just placed now, there is a time around the holidays the factory shuts down completely. Might be one or two weeks if I recall.
Then the standard wait time is about 9 weeks. Longer when you add delivery time and if the factory is got the pedal to the metal, full out on the production line, even longer. Some dealers though have completely misquoted time frames in the past to cover their behinds. Maybe it's also the shortage of water tanks... Someone who has a 25' SS said that a dealer told them it could be a few weeks before a tank could be had from OH to FL... and this was for one of the more popular units too.

Hi-Dan & Cer.----Wow May!!!! What a wait !!!! We ordered a new 30'Classic last oct and took delivery in Jan.pretty much what the dealer told us.{12 weeks} We toured the factory this fall and were told there was a 600 unit back log on orders. I thought at the time that was probably a "stretch" but it seems from your order date that it must be true.---pieman
