I saw one of these at last year's Cherry Blossom Rally - cute as a bug, and not much bigger! Minuets are 7' wide, six inches NARROWER than Airstreams of the same era, and six metres = less than 20 feet.

That is a perfect weekend camper and was built to be lightweight and less expensive than the Airstream. Sort of an entry level A/S like the new Basecamp model today.

They are really cute, but they aren't "live in" Airstreams IMHO. This would be the perfect thing for my kid sister who is still housebound, and never wants to be away for more than 2 weeks.

Hoosier, it sounds like you are able to full-time in your vintage just fine. Bed is important to me, too, I decided. I want a real mattress, something cozy with lots of pillows and my down comforter on top. I think I would use the bathtub for a bathtub and try to find another option for the kitty litter box, like putting a kitty door in a drawer space.

At least with the '60 Safari you have less weight to tow, so maybe that saves on gas. What is your mileage while towing?

Hi M,
I manage between 11-13 mph. That is pulling up a few very large hills and using AC. Now, I am one those slow goers. 65 max unless I forget I am towing then it might go up to 70 when Asleep at the Wheel is on....kidding aside ususally I set the cruise at 55mph.

That's not very good mileage. I would have thought you'd do better with a '60 Safari. Do you think your '98 Chevy gets bad mileage or is this what I should expect?

Yes, the Dodge Ram '98 likes gasoline. I spoke with a Tundra owner pulling a Globetrotter and they get around 13 too. I have heard a lot less from others under 10mph.
I had the truck and wanted to see if I like this on the road lifestyle. Well, I do.
So I am looking to change vehichles but haven't figured out to what...

I think $33,000 for a 2003 22' CCD is a bit high. We paid $25,000 for our 2002 22' CCD when it was only two years old (in 2004).

There were no true front bedroom Airstreams in 2003. IIRC, the first true front bedroom Airstreams were the 2005 30' Safaris.

This particular unit is described as having a double bed forward. This means it has a transverse double bed under the wrap window with a translucent panel over a bedside table separating the bed from the door. There is a curtain/accordion door that provides privacy from the dinette/kitchen area from the bed area.

Minnie's Mate is exactly right. There are some good pictures of the 22' CCD on the Airstream factory site, including a virtual tour and the floorplan.

I found another Safari 22' CCD 2003 for $30K. I guess that is still a bit high, but maybe he'll come down to $25K? It's a nice unit. It has a big bed and a desk in the back.

That's the same model I found. They come with different interior colors. I liked the ice blue interior in the one I found, they also have lemongrass (kind of a lime neon green) and an orange color. The pics and description don't say what color the inside is, but an email should tell.

On edit, I found one photo with a partial of the dinette cushion, and it is also blue.

Okay, just read about all the corosion issues that are going on with models 1999 and up. What a shame. Now I'm thinking it may be better to buy an older 70-80s model and just rebuild the interior with real wood the way I like it. I'll keep reading, keep looking. Thanks for the heads up.
