Thanks everyone. You guys have done a bang up job at making a new girl feel really welcome! I am so glad I found you all.. I am really inspired to make this into something great. Holy cow... I just saw the safari renovation by was it Carlos?? WOW....
Carlos Ferguson's Sarari renovation is exceptional, definitely one of my favorites. As you read through those major renovations, you'll continue to be impressed. Lots of bright minds on this forum.
As you begin your own renovation, you will find that you are limited only by your imagination.
Welcome Steph, It's good to have you aboard!
I started on my renovation very recently, and it's easier than I thought it would be so far.
Don't be discouraged if you have to go a few steps back to get rid of the POs "repairs". It's not unusual at all for strange things to be found as you learn what it's supposed to look like.
I've had mine for about five months now. We took it on one shakedown trip to see what it's like and now it looks like this inside!
I'm learning a lot from this site and finding inspiration from the great folks here also. I hope you have the same or better experience too.
You may be able to get a Title for your trailer from another state if you have friends in a state that doesn't put you through what Texas does. In Oklahoma you can get a title on a trailer with just a Bill of Sale. I know because I have done it myself. Some states don't even accept titles from vintage trailers. As I said, Texas is an extremely hard state to get a title on a trailer if you don't already have one. There are independent services that will work to get you a title; however, they do charge for it. Getting the title for my old 56 Airstream took about 3 weeks and cost me about $30.00. The tag agency did have to see the trailer to inspect the VIN number before I got a title in hand, but the trailer was registered in the state before that. Oklahoma just won't give you a paper title until they walk outside the tag agency and see that you actually have the trailer and the VIN number is the same as on the Bill of Sale. Hope this may help you in getting your trailer "legal" and on the road.
