Another Central Texas Argosy Owner
Howdy, y'all. Okay, so that's more for the benefit of the yankees on this board than anyone else. I just wanted to take this chance to introduce myself and begin my networking as I undertake my newest project.
I live in the Austin, TX area and I recently acquired a 1978 Argosy 30' travel trailer. The trailer will be used largely as an office, however my wife has made it clear that it must remain road-worthy and able to be used for full camping functionality. She wants to be able to hand it down to the kids whenever they are our age. Of course, I told her that is ridiculous because by then we'll have flying cars...

That's an interesting paint job on the banana wrap and trip on your Argosy. Is it decals?
And as far as the "howdy" part, well, it's expected if you're an Agggie, though I almost never say it unless I want to get another Ag's attention. I was what they call a 2-percenter, I hardly ever went to football games.
"Y'all" just tries to correct the problem that English dropped the 2nd-person-singular but we want to be able to differentiate, so instead of going back to thee/thou/thine we added another 2nd-person-plural form... two wrongs really don't make a right, but we do it anyway.

This, from Ft Worth - where "Grammer" is a cracker in the store.

I've ended up in Fort Worth, but I grew up behind the Pine Curtain in rural Wood County, went to college at A&M and have managed to attain passable skills in my first language in spite of it all. <walks off humming "We Shall Overcome">

TX Argosy,
Welcome to the AS Forums
I, too, rehabbed a '78 Argosy, 27ft and yes it was a looooot of work but worth it. I teach at Central Texas College, Killeen, TX but do the whole thing online and live in WA ST (yes, I am a dam.... Yankee)smile Pics would be nice. I painted mine light blue with the contrast dark blue to match the TV. Welcome again.

Still trying to get photos to show up. I guess I'm not particularly blog-savvy. Will do asap.

Well, you've got the 4 pics that show if we click "Images" on one of your posts or your profile. On this thread, if you click the "Go Advanced" button underneath the reply window, it'll take you to a reply window with lots of buttons above and to the right of the text area, with a bunch of "Post Icons" underneath.
Above the text area in the first row of buttons there's a paperclip, if you click that it'll allow you to attach image files to the post. Alternately if you have images on the web at a site like photobucket, you can click the button in the 2nd row that looks like a landscape with mountains and the sun, you can put in the URL of an image that's hosted elsewhere.

Pics... finally
Hey y'all. I've been out of town for a bit, and I finally managed to get some pics taken. (see below)
I have some shots of the Argosy (the good, bad and ugly), and one of my other project -- a '77 KZ1000P.

Hi TX,
Welcome to the forums! That is quite the project you have there. Good luck!

Thanks, Top. Demo has not yet begun, but there will be quite a bit of it. BTW, I'm interested in "selling" some of the fixtures. If I actually make a little bit of money off it, that's great, but the primary motivator is to get original parts over to folks who can use them. Any ideas on the best forum for me to list those things?

Thanks for the pictures. That wet spot in the rear (I presume) is going to take you on a fantastic journey to 'fixville'. But thats what Vintage Airstreams are all about mostly, is maintaining their glory. Good luck with all of it and welcome to the forums. Bill

Actually, that pic is from the fresh-water tank input to the water heater under the mid-cabin sink. Regardless, you're right.. it needs to be remediated or fixed. There's another section at the rear, where the plywood joins the shell, that has some rot and will need to be replaced, for sure. It's funny the things I missed when walking this trailer for the first time...

Tx,
I know how missing things when buying a trailer goes. You can advertise the things you want to sell for free here on the forum classifieds.
