Please help. Need your expertise.

We just inherited a 25ft '80 Excella double (our first AS). I've been trying to find some basic info about it and have come to learn that the '80 models may have some idiosyncrasies due to the change of ownership around that time.
Although I've found lots of useful info on this site, a couple of answers still elude me:
1)Is my AS really an Excella (listed on the title as well as the trim on trailer), or is it an Excella II (listed on this site as the only '80 Excella)?
2)Why doesn't my VIN (225D0J1445) match either the pre-1980 or post-1980 templates I've found?
I'd like to get these questions answered so I can get accurate dry and tongue weights for it.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forums!

1980 was a transition year that lasted into 1981. Your VIN (225D0J1445)looks a lot like a 70's VIN, except for the first number. If the first 2 was an E it would match with an Excella. Maybe it signifies it is an Excella II, I'm not sure. The rest looks fine; 25 foot, double bed, 1980 and made in Ohio.

My weight chart only shows Excella II. Internationals and Caravels being made that year. Your trailer on my list shows a dry weight of 4212 and a hitch weight of 604.

Thanks for your time, AZ. I'll go with 4212 and 604 and hope they're close, if not exact.
Tight lines.

MayflyHucker,
Congratulations on your "new" Airstream and welcome to the forums.

Airstream has recently added a lot of information to their web site. Take a look at Travel Trailer Specification and you might be able to locate some information on your coach. They also have Serial Number Information that may help you decipher your VIN. Plus Manuals and How To Diagrams. Hopefully the information in these links will help you.

Certainly does look like a 70's number. Does your plate give the date of manufacture? That first digit is odd.

My title and manufacture dates are 78, but according to my VIN I have a 79.....

Take look here, it shows some options that were installed on the II, might help you determine which you have.
