Anyone Know A Good Motorhome Towing Company Near Rochester, Minnesota?
Hi guys, I'm brand new here and I'm excited to be here.
I need to have my 1981 280 motorhome towed from near Rochester Minnesota up to near St. Paul.
This moho hasn't traveled in awhile, so I assume it will need to be up on a big flatbed?
I have no idea which towing companies to contact and how to not spend a fortune on the transport.
Any Minnesotans out there with suggestions?
Thank you SO much!

Welcome to the airforums Fawcett!
You will find a pretty close knit group of classic motorhome owners here to help you get comfortable with your new beast. Lots of hands on DIY types with plenty of experience in the care and feeding of our coaches.
Can you tell us about the history and condition of your classic 28'. When did it last run , what was its condition when parked, etc.
It seems a shame to drop a bunch $s on shipping if it could be directed towards getting it running and drive it home.
I'm not I that area so no suggestions on possible towing Co. And understand the challenges the weather can bring in that neck of the woods.
Do you have an indoor shop to bring it to ?
Oh, we do love pictures from new members.
Cheers Richard

I would look into buying Good Sam Road Assistance and then have it towed, i think they tow up to 200 miles. The membership fee is less than $150

Do a search for "RV transporters" lots of companies, some that have semi's with flat bed trailers to do exactly what you are looking for.

Hi mayco, I thought of that, but their website says, "unlimited free motorhome towing to the nearest service center" and I need it to got much farther (2 hours) than to just the nearest service center. But I sure like the price of that idea.

I would contact Perkins Heavy Haul.
Not because this would be a heavy haul, but because Perkins is located about halfway between Rochester and St. Paul.
They could have one of their drivers from Rochester pick it up in the morning, drop it off at the office, and have another driver from St Paul drop it off on his way home in the afternoon.

Welcome to the nut farm.
If I were to have a 280 towed I would phone a big rig towing company and get some quotes. The 280 can be towed by the front only just like a car as opposed to having to flat bed it, which would reduce costs. The drive shaft will have to come out but thats all, and the tow operator can take care of that.
Tevake is right though, maybe you need to inquire as to trying to getting it running first and driving her home. $500.00 could go a long way to doing that.
Cheers
Tony

Very true Tony, and I would love to put that $500 toward getting it tuned up and started, but there's another reason I can't drive it down the road yet...

Vandals with a baseball bat.
Luckily not a car accident or anything.
$800 for the driver's side and $800 for passenger side.

Hello Fawcett
I am local and am roughly midway between St. Paul and Rochester. Perkins trucking is in my back yard (I don't know if they'll be of any help, worth a phone call to find out though).
I would say that you're facing a difficult situation. Highway 52 is busy and well-patrolled, and it would be unwise to take any shortcuts in transporting a mh along it for both safety and compliance reasons.
Shorewood RV is the local Airstream dealer and may be able to offer some suggestions.
The advice you have received to get the rig roadworthy in situ before moving it is good advice.

Yeah, as if it isn't hard enough to find good people with vision and parts to keep these queens on the road without yoobo's, with nothing better to do, than going around destroying other peoples property.
Isn't that why we use to load rock salt in the 12 gauge.
Good luck Fawcett
Cheers

You oculd also try listing the job on Uship.com
That's how I moved my trailer from KY to ID. You list the job, with the parameters you want, people bid the job, but you're not obligated until you close the deal.

As crappy as that sort of vandalism is, at least the morons were swinging at the glass rather than the shell!!! If so inclined, a person could virtually destroy an Airstream in minutes with just a small hammer. I cringe when anyone opens a car door near my aluminum stuff.

Anyone Know A Good Motorhome Towing Company Near Rochester, Minnesota?
I thought the same exact thing.
By the way the two headlights on the driver side were smashed too.
Are those hard to find these days? Or still around?
Thanks.

They're the cheapest things you can buy for your Airstream.

Ones low and the other high beam.
