2006 Safari Special Editions

What follows is a cost/option breakout from our Sales Order, weights included. These are "suggested retail price." Discount can vary -- I've seen up to 18% if the dealer has the model on the lot. 10% is common and closer to what we paid for a new order We ordered a 25' FB LS SE with the convection microwave option this weekend. It is interesting to note that the Panoramic window is separate from the Special Edition upgrade (hard to do without the Pano after an Argosy...). If you get similar details on other Safari lengths, would you mind sharing the particular options with us? Thank you!

I'm still waiting for Colonial Airstream to get photos online for the 25'FB SE they have inbound. The door on the FB model has been changed to front-hinge from what I've heard -- I've addressed this elsewhere -- the 2005 FB door suffers IMHO. Other 'skinny' I have heard is the SE line will soon be available in the 28' Safari. The Safari "Special Edition" is available currently in the 19' Bambi, the 25' SS and the 25' FB. Woo-hoo!!

Being a vintage gal, I'm not up to speed on all the new 2006 models, however, I did add a 2006 Safari SE catagory for you...we can break down the lengths later.

Happy Posting!

Shari

BTW...there was a brand new 2006 rear entry door Safari SE parked right across from me at International last week...if I was interested in a new trailer, it would definately be the one to get for me! LOVED IT! The layout was GREAT!!! I love the rear entry and dinette.

Is this the one you ordered?

The proud owner had just picked it up in St. Louis on his way to International...very cool!

Are talking across the board on the special edition line?

If yer talking about the panoramic window in the FB unit, I think you're right, but it was my understanding that it'is standard in all Special Edition coaches that are non FB units as it's a standard CCD with Safari interior.

Congratulations on your (soon to be) new Airstream. The FB model is a neat plan, made better with the International option.

I sure wish they would add the International option on the 30' Safari Bunk model too.

Thank you Shari! The 2005 rear door FB (front bed) has been discussed recently (2006 Model year quality....). Yes, I am getting the 2006 with front hinges on that door, with the Safari Upgrade package (LS), the SE package, and the front panoramic window. The layout works great for us, especially how they fit in the couch in minimal additional space.

Eric, you may have heard more on this than I. I asked for similar details from folks pursuing the other SE models when I started the thread -- hope that happens. The SE Brochure doesn't describe that in detail. I can see why they might not include it automatically at the front bed area -- I like to look at the stars!! BTW, the options on the 2nd post above are in the exact order they were on the Sales Order one reviews with the dealer -- and each Sales Order is a specific printed sheet for each model available (length + Bambi/Safari/CCD/Classic).

Redeagle, give it a while -- it might just happen to the 30' Safari. I encountered a salesperson at a different Airstream dealer who was in the dark on the whole SE package. He spoke to the factory and told me they want to make it available on the entire Safari line eventually -- I'm working to make it successful!

The FB unit is a whole different beast and could be why there are so many questions. The non FB SE units do have the front panoramic windows as found in the Classic and CCD. When I was at the factory, the FB was not included in the SE units, but the rumor at the time was that there was to eventually be an upgrade that had the panoramic windows in the back by the dinette on the FB units. Looking at your sales sheet, it appears that for $1059 you can get the front panoramic windows in the FB. Just not sure that it's optional or standard on the back window as I heard. I do know that they have both front and back on the 16' CCD Quicksilver, so possibly (and you should ask) see if the FB SE version has the rear panaoramic standard or if the SE makes it standard on the FB.

Congrats on your new coach!

2006 25' Safari FB with International Option!

Hi all, I just got back from Jackson Center. I dropped off our trailer for some warranty work. While there, I was driving around the building to park the trailer, and what did I see....there sitting outside of the service area was a Safari 25 FB SE with the International option. It had the wrap around windows on both ends! This is a very nice looking unit indeed!

Congrats on the new unit. Two items A/S disclosed during their give & take session at the International was that all units starting that week would have Dexter axles & that somewhere in the 05 build they started installing a "bridge" wire in the top rear clearance lights for use to connect a rear camera setup. The dealer would be told just where to drill the hole to find the wire. The connection would then go thru your regular plug connection. I didn't catch it all, but I think you would also need some type of transfer box & of course the camers setup, which A/S doesn't sell. BTW I found that session very interesting & that A/S seemed to be interested in our imput.
Best,

redeagle313 -- I'm just waiting for somebody with a pocket digital camera to post a photo. There's a lack of them out there. Colonial Airstream hasn't come through yet.

Yes, Eric, that seems to be what I have bought. It is with the optional front panoramic window. So, if it does actually have the rear pano it should look something like the Bambi Quiksilver when it comes down to the double-ended look. Eight weeks will be right after Labor Day. I'm taking odds on quarts of Walbernize as to when delivery actually will be!!!

Now, back to work on the Argosy in our sweltering 90's humidity tomorrow... Electrical is in good shape. I'll have most of the structural done (whew!) when I list it, but most of the LP utilities (heat & hot water) will need a good plumber to be interested...

Bogfrog -- sounds interesting. Thanks all - karma all around!

That's gonna be one sharp coach! Personally, I'm not one for the front bedroom, but I gotta say, that 25' FB with both window sets, and the SE/LS pkg is a really cool looking coach. It actually makes me think twice about a FB unit.

Dexter axles? The other plant is walking distance from the factory. I wonder if it had anything to do with the 2004 recall??

Neat thing having a camera line, I wonder what it would cost as an option at the time of manufac to have Airstream put it on and give it a good sealing?

At any rate, it's a great time to be in the new coach market, lots of great things coming out of Jackson Center lately.

Yes, wonder what will come out of the recent inquiry (can't find the thread) -- was it 'thenewkid'? -- asking for feedback on a stylish clean throwback to an interior with wood veneers, more like the early-60's style.

Eric, I guess I was intrigued by a thread about the rear-door Argosy of the '70's -- it seemed easy to accept -- and so much more mobile than the current project, even when the latter might get done...

Yesterday was my 3rd trip to Jackson Center, and unfortunately my first without the digital camera.

I asked what hours the factory was working, and they are on 40 hours, so that means a normal to less than normal order bank. You could see your unit quicker than 8 weeks. In similar conditions this spring, we got our trailer in 5 weeks. Keep your fingers crossed !

Baby pictures?

Hey Canoe Stream,
We contacted AS customer support and one of their people actually sent us a couple sets of baby pictures while our 2004 CCD was being built. When I get a chance I'll see if I can dig up the details up in my archived e-mails.

Ok, that's it. You HAVE to stop this. I promised my wife I would STOP begging for one of these back door Safari's and that was based on the 2005 options. Now you show me this and I'm about to wet myself! Stop it!!!!!

I'm waiting for the 30' to be offered in the SE model before I order ours! I bought a new F-250 Power Stroke to pull it with in April and saw the SE and had to wait to see if the 30' would be offered. I wrote AS and got a response to contact them in July to find out a time frame for its offering so I'm waiting to find out when that will be. I'm getting antsie to find out when it will be offered. I'm hoping the wrap-around window will be intergrated into the front bedroom of the 30'. That really makes it look like an Airstream.
