Hi. My name is Sue. I have always wanted an Airstream and a friend of mine is offering one to me for free! It needs a lot of work, more than I can even imagine probably! I took some pictures of it and have the serial number but I can't figure out what year it is, It says International Land Yacht. Overlander. The numbers on it are 142 S 5229
6405 (this number is underneath 142)
Also says Santa Fe Springs, California
Any help wold be appreciated! Seems like a good idea right now. What do you think? Workable?
I didn't realize I had a pictue of the sign next to the door. I'm attaching it in hopes someone can help me out with determining the age. Also, where do measure an Airstream? From the tip of the hitch, or where the body starts?
Theorectically Airstreams are measured from bumper to ball. In reality they are often not exact. Your Overlander is supposed to be 26 feet. You know it's funny, I have a 63 Overlander but I've never actually measured it.... Something to do!
You are in for a project! But free is good, it's hard to tell from the pictures but the skin looks good, with the front endcap having some damage? Not bad
