Urban Air, Michigan

I just signed up for Urban Air in Eaton Rapids Michigan October 10th -13th. I'm looking forward to our first event with our Airstream since we have just been doing our own thing this summer.

I'm wondering if there are other AirForum members that plan on helping us Wake Up Downtown. Should be a fun time and hope to meet several of you there.

More info on the event at wakeupdowntown.com.

Why have I never heard of this? It sounds like a blast.

It just started last year. The plan is to roll this out across the country over the next several years. A great way to bring attention to small towns.

It's not too late for you to sign up.

I love this idea! Hope it starts spreading across the country. We would love to take part in one of these events. I am from a very small town, and miss it so much!

I'm intrigued by this as well. Despite a very nice website and seemingly? backing direct from Airstream, the organizers apparently didn't advertise very well at Airforums. I would have planned this in to my schedule but it's too late for that now. Hopefully they will plan more than one of these next year and hopefully advertise it here.

I think that since this is still a new event they are keeping it rather small and it has been mostly word of mouth without advertising.

A couple organizers of the event talked to all the Airstream owners at the Tin Can Tourist gathering in Milford,Mi about this. Sounds like a great idea and good time. I expressed reservations about camping on the street with normal traffic flow and they told me not everyone would be on the street. Due to space limitations many trailers would be in a nearby park. I could live with that because I really do not want to be run into by someone on a phone doing whatever. Forgot to ask about showers and such.

I won't be pulling in till Thursday night after the street parking is done. It looks like the overflow is in the community park a short walk across a bridge to the main street.

Mention was made about bathrooms being available for vintage folks, but I don't remember anything about showers.

Sorry I overlooked it.

In the first post it wasn't highlighted as a link and somehow wakeupdowntown.com doesn't have any obvious association with Airstreams.

A member of our WBCCI unit who is planning to go noticed a reference to it in the Airstream, Inc. "Living Riveted", so it does appear to have factory backing.

We're booked to go to Eaton Rapids as well. We have 300 miles to go, and I would like to get there in the 1-3 window. With fill ups, etc. I allow for 50 miles per hour on the road, so I will have to get on the road at 7 am. Rush hour traffic will slow us even further. Should probably hitch up the night before or we'll never leave on time!

Still contemplating what we will bring for the pot luck dinner. Look forward to seeing others there!

We will be at Urban Air. There were planning on about 200 coaches participating.

My understanding is that it is now a little over 100 Airstreams signed up. They were allowing for up to be about 200. I'm sure there is room for additional people that want to sign up last minute.

The weather is looking great for middle to end of week in Eaton Rapids, sunny and around 70 each day.

Now I just need to scratch my head and figure out what to do to decorate ours for the event.

Link to article in local paper.

This is an awesome event! We went last year and was blown away by how cool this was. Chad and Kirk are amazing event organizers and we felt it really brought goodwill and coolness to Eaton Rapids. The Mayor was at all of the events as well as the Chamber of Commerce members. It really breathed new life into the town and we all felt very welcome. Looking forward to "Camping for a Cause" this year as well...
