ESP& Cruise Loss in high wind

For the second time I've received a cruise visit workshop and ESP visit workshop while driving in High winds.

Has anyone else seen this error?

Cruise & ESP Visit workshops? Has spell-check auto-corrected something the wrong way?

If you mean a cruise control and Electronic Stability Program error message or idiot light, then I've never had the cruise control warning light appear while driving in high winds. Partly because I take cruise control off in high winds and go to full manual control.

There are two different ESP indicator lights. The first is a triangle with an exclamation point, and that tells you the ESP has successfully performed selective braking of one or more wheels to help stop you from drifting in a direction other than the one you're steering. The second is a vehicle icon with wavy tire tracks, and that one tells you that the ESP has failed to do its job.

The first one is a fair indication that it's time to slow down, because you're driving faster than conditions dictate and the computer has to intervene to keep you on the road. The second one means that it's time to pull over and park, because there's not enough traction to control the vehicle safely even with computer assistance.

Lol. Probably speed in both situations. 75 MPH across Oklahoma with heavy crosswinds. Not a good sign when the computer can't help! Good thing both hands on the wheel. Heading back out now from fuel and lunch stop.

Thanks.

BTW. Koni shocks made huge difference. Love them.

I bought a set, but haven't gotten them installed yet. Waiting until I have to put it in the shop for something else, then I'll have all the work done at the same time.

Just got my 10,000 mile service in Van Nuys California $290 great dealership!

Installed the shocks that my Ford dealership no problem had to adjust the generator to get them in but everything worked out great.

I have had the same thing happen in high winds. The cruise control would not re-engage until the ignition was switched off then restarted.

Same here; had to wait for complete computer shut down though, just turning off and restarting didn't clear it; but after 20 seconds or so it did.
