Sorry

I wish these dogs outlived us instead of the other way around, but then who'd take care of them after we leave. I guess it works best this way, but it sure hurts to go through it several times over. Sorry you're hurting. You're in good company here.

There's only one thing to do, and that's a puppy. We are basset hound people at our house, and every time we've had to put one down we grieved for a couple of weeks and brought a new puppy home. You never forget the one you lost....but lavishing your love and warmth on a new companion makes it tolerable.

It really hurts to lose a pet, but I would not like my pet to outlive me because she would experience that loss, and not understand it.

Condolences on your loss of Peabody.

So So Sorry

I am still trying to get over the loss of my yellow lab Shelby she died in August and I was crying for days and still do when I think of her, so I know what you're going through. Your dog looked so beautiful and I'm sure you have lovely memories of Peabody. The memories we get to keep and every one of them is precious.

Hi, Dusty-Boo was my Mom's dog, she passed in September of 2005. Then Dusty was my Dad's dog, he passed in Februaury of 2011. Boo-Boo, as we call him now, adopted my wife and I. He is very happy to have adopted us.

So sorry for your loss. Those furry friends of ours are such integral parts of our lives. They bring so much joy, humor, and comfort into our families. Know that you were that best bud to him and brought him happiness, too.

Understood. Last year (January 14) my male cat died of some unknown illness. He was a great companion. People could not believe he was a cat by his outward "join in" behavior. I still miss him. One time I was putting in a ceiling fan and went out into the garage to get something. When I came back, he was on a blade with the fan hanging lopsided against the ladder! Nosy thing! His sister is still around although she is somewhat more aloof- sweet but aloof! Then a few months later we lost our Lady (19 year old Siamese) that we had to put to sleep due to pains she was having. Rough year. This is when you have to consider what time you shared with such an animal. They are amazing creatures and we love em and, they love us back.
