2019 Exp Limited and Classic

Any thoughts on if a 2019 Exp with a 9500lb tow capacity could safely tow a 2018 33 foot Classic?

Well, I tell ya. That's about the upper limit, and chances are the fully tanked and supplied Airstream, plus whatever is in the back of the Expedition, would exceed that limit. I'd look for something larger if it was me.

Will it do it 'safely' sure. But your going to be at max rating all the time. It was like me using my old trailblazer to pull my 19CB. It did it. But I was maxed out. I kept the speed down to 60mph and i survived, but it was not a good idea.

If you had an excursion in that ford SUV line, I would say hit the highway at 70mph, but not in the expedition, no.

Short runs to the local state park, I think your good.

More than that its time for a 2500 frame.

Thanks for all the advice. I'll be picking it up this week and will see how it goes and if I don't like it I'll consider going to an F250 then.

My wife drives a 2022 GMC YukonXL. I would love to tow my 2021 Classic 33 with that vehicle, even though my trailer is slightly beyond the specs of her vehicle. I strongly considered doing it anyway, with potentially beefing up the suspension--fully aware that I would be at (or beyond) the published towing limits (especially for payload).

And then I estimated fuel economy and compared with the size of the Yukon fuel tank. At 8mpg (estimated, based on others' stories) I would be stopping for fuel every 2 hours or so. Even though we like to stop that frequently to stretch our legs, trying to squeeze into strange gas stations in unfamiliar locales on this frequency is a bit more than I want to take on.

Ultimately, the showstopper for me is MTBFU (mean time between fuel-ups). And adding a larger fuel tank decreases my available payload even more, so that's not a direction I'd like to go either.

So I'm stuck towing with my Duramax. It's a great tow vehicle...but as a daily driver, I'd have to say meh....

We tow a FC25RB with a 2018 Navigator. It does great, but would be payload challenged with more than two people in it. Engine would do fine towing something bigger, but I don't think I use it with a 33.
