What is the strip on wall for?

Hello all-

Sorry but every search on this site I kept finding un-related answers!

I brought home my Argosy 26 about a month ago and have halfway gutted the inside, redoing plumbing, electrical, counter tops, etc. The mattresses were thrown out by previous owner (due to a basement flood) but I am in the process of ordering new foam and upholstery.

There is an aluminum strip/rail on both sides of interior about 4 inches deep that runs the full length of the bed. It has a small piece of fake veneer on front of it. Can anyone tell me what function it serves? It looks like it might have been a place for a cushion to tuck under, but without cushions I cannot tell what it is supposed to look like.

Is it structural or a cushion holder? it doesn't make a very good shelf!

Thanks

Rick

Here is a picture of one of these rails - it bisects the left wall from top to bottom (not my trailer) but looks the same:

On my past 26' Argosy that was the bottom curtain track. The curtains covered the wall the length of the bed.

I concur with Shacksman. My '76 Trade Wind had the same bottom curtain railing. I left it in to use as a tray for those sleeping in the bed.

Ok, thanks guys. I'll bet that is it. It has a groove in it. I am putting silver mini-blinds in more than likely so drapes never crossed my mind!
