Thanks Dan.
Now that I have had my afternoon nap, just a little further to go on this "memories" detour . . .
. . . I can see more clearly that old BSA Victor 441 single-cylinder kick-start MC.
Unsure of the correct term, but one of the side casings [?] had to come off the engine, and the exposed raised bolt heads were Phillips, but stripped. Using a hacksaw, a mechanic buddy carefully cut new slots into the tops of the bolts, and the impact driver got them out.

Peter that is my "go to tool" since 1979 when I was working on my 66 VW Bug.
But I don't want to talk about that now. I just pulled the scaffolding away for the Argosy. I fell like I'm at NASA launching the Falcon/Dragon today. I'm ready to launch.....almost.

Working on a few things over the last couple of weeks. It has been absolutely miserable with 90+ degree weather and constant thunder showers. I did get the WDH set up also put together the street and curbside rock guards.
The rock guards still need some finish work but overall I pretty happy with how they attach and look. Right now the protective film is still on, which is why they are cloudy. I opted for clear Lexan to keep the bright view of the Panorama windows, one of the main reasons to pick the Argosy over other older Airstreams.

Howdy Eric,
I hope the heat has moderated.
The Lexan is a great solution! What thickness did you use, and did it take that curve well, or did you have to heat it and bend it over a form? It looks like you got a pretty "fair curve" for that large piece. Also what finish/opacity is that? It does not look perfectly "clear" IMO . . . maybe "matte" or "lightly frosted" etc.? Good privacy control IMO.
I guess the lighting could be making it look somewhat frosted . . .
Thanks,

Hey Peter
1. It's still hot. Yesterday out of curiosity is jumped on the scales after working out side for several hours and I had lost 2 lbs. since breakfast.
2. I used 1/8 inch Lexan. I didn't heat it as it will bend quite a bit. It is much more pliable than Plexiglas which is one reason it is better suited for the job. Also to heat an bend it you need to work in a very tight temperature range with evenly applied heat and right now I don't have the time or space to build a jig and heater to do the work. Possibly next summer. I was thinking about making another set from tinted Lexan.
3. The opacity is actually the protective film the comes on the Lexan, I just haven't taken it off yet.

Hey Peter - Honestly I have been side tracked with a Boler B1700 fiberglass camper that I was hoping to get together enough for hunting camp but some health issues slowed that down and I decided to have someone else paint the Love Shack for me because I just didn't have the time, location, equipment or skill to do a satisfactory job. A man's got to know his limitations.
I finally got a couple of quotes and picked a vendor so hopefully after the beginning of the year. One hold up was some small things I wanted to get done like remove the refrigerator vent since I went to a 12 volt unit. I also did some body work to smooth out some of the major imperfections. She won't be ding free but she is 43 so I am not too picky there.

Dropped the Love Shack off at the painters. Now it is a waiting game. This project is coming closer to and end. Once it is back I have to put the lights and belt trim back on.

Thanks for the update. Did you buy new top end caps with red primer, or is that your work? I forget . . . are they steel in the Argosy trailers, or aluminum with a special primer?
Good timing for some camping later this Spring and Summer!
Happy trails . . .

Those are the original steel end caps. When I stripped the paint and cleaned up the typical Argosy rust spots I put it in primer. I had planned on painting the whole thing myself last fall but lost the available indoor space to do the job and the weather just wouldn't cooperate to do it outside and get a decent finish. Then I became impatient and decided to farm out the job.
