If we hadn't gone to the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta this year, our Airstream would have hail damage. We were just east of Flagstaff on the way home when golf-ball sized hail hit our neighborhood (in Phoenix). Also, our Tundra has an aluminum tonneau cover, and I think the hood might be aluminum, too. We were extremely lucky...

Same here, we were at the Region Rally site in Gallup after we left Albuquerque when our house sitter sent pictures. The trailer would have been totaled. The estimates for our home repairs are right around 15K.

We were fortunate, too. Two storm cells packed with hail passed by our area on either side of us. The Tramonto area just a few miles west of us got hammered. We were very fortunate as we had all of our vehicles outside along with our two Airstreams.

These storms are very rare. The last one like this that I can remember was back in the late 80s. We only had about 8K in damage with that one. Roofs were cheaper then too.

Holy cow

I am amazed at the strength of that storm. My architecture students have got to see this to better appreciate the power of mother nature and the importance of planning a safe structure. Thanks. Did your airstream survive this?

Don't get too comfortable.

When I was younger (much) I saw a tornado touch down on the east side of Lake Washington just across from Sand Point NAS.

Sometime in the seventies or eighties I believe, there was a large timber blow down between Mt Rainier and Mt Adams, that they figured could only have been a tornado.

I will admit though that in the 50 years I lived in Washington, I never saw hail anything like I have seen here in the front range of Colorado.

Regards,

Ken
