Solo mileage of Dura-max engine

Anyone have good figures? I need to know what your solo mileage on an extended cab K-2500 Chevrolet/GMC equipped Duramax. We are thinking of clearing out the garage and using one vehicle for everything: towing/daily driver/grocery-getter/sunday cruiser.
I know towing will be a breeze, I really need non-towing city/highway figures. The manufacturer doesn't list mileage figures. Thanks in advance.

Good mileage

I get 14-15 towing my Classic 25.

Solo, I get 19-20 around town. Typical use is 6 miles of hilly country road, some city driving, and another 6 miles if hilly country road.

Solo, on the interstate, I have not measured, but the fuel gage sure does go down slow. Must be in the 20s.

I also will probably sell my Buick and use the truck as my lone ride.

I can't help you on the chevy but as a starting point my 3/4 ton extended cab long bed 98.5 Dodge Cummins diesel with automatic gets between 22-23 solo and 16 pulling a 25' Safari.

Solo to and from work in our '02 C-C dually D/A, we get 19-20. When coupled to our '99-34', we get 17-18 using 1800-1900 RPM.

Mileage solo

The model truck seems to make a significant difference. I've been watching similar threads for some time now. Before I switched to a winter blend I was getting about 17.5 to 18 mpg on the highway. Using a winter blended fuel my mileage has dropped about 1 mpg. One thing worth noting is that I live in Maine where a lot of my driving is up and down hills. I haven't turned 10,000 miles yet - and I understand that the Duramax just keeps getting better! Note that my rig is a crew-cab, 4X4, long-bed dually. These mpg figures are long-term, using the "personal" and "business" functions on the computer. I've also manually checked the results - not wanting to totally rely on the on-board computer. The results were identical. I haven't had the opportunity to do any extensive towing yet, thanks to Old Man Winter! My results have been consistently lower than what others have reported - but I'm not complaining. This is the smoothest-running vehicle I've ever owned - in spite of it being a diesel. I probably need to push it a bit just to loosen things up!

dura-max mileage

I get about 16mph empty, but I only have 1800 miles on my 2004 crew cab dualie 4x4, much better than my Hummer. I sold the H2,in order to have a means of carrying my Harley on trips. The hummer was fun for the 18,000 miles I put on it in one year, but I'm a true dualie fan.

I have a 03, 2500hd extended cab Duramax with the Allison,
I get about 18 average around town and towing about 14 to 15mpg pulling a 7800# equipment trailer. Pulling my 6meter Minuet at 2700# I get about 18 average. I only have 10k miles and the milage keeps getting better.

My dad had an '01 extended cab shortbed 4x4 LT with the Duramax that he used for delivering travel trailers, and he averaged about 14 pulling and between 21-23 empty on the highway. He did very little in-town driving but figured he got around 15 in town.

He had an accident while towing and gave up the truck. He went back to a gas and really, really misses the Duramax. We're Ford people, and even we thought it was a great truck!
