Reading While Driving on Interstate

I have seen drivers reading in stop and go traffic but today I saw a driver reading while doing 65 mph and passing me and following a truck. I hit the horn and the drive didn’t even look up. I think text messaging is bad enough but reading while driving on an interstate highway is sure to end up with someone hurt.

I agree. I make it a practice to only read Zane Gray westerns while driving and make sure I push the automatic pilot button.

A couple of weeks ago while on I64, I noticed a SUV hitting the rumble strip and then aiming for the center strip. I took a chance and passed it, and my copilot said that he was steering with his knees and doing something with his portable GPS.... I imagine he might have been talking on his cell fone, too. I suppose he had just finished shaving and spraying on his hair gel.

The other day I passed someone who was texting, not even looking up at the traffic the whole time I could see him. I've heard of that, but never seen anyone dumb enough to do it before! Very scary!

I didn't want to say it was a she and I think it was a Dummy Driving. It is time to install air horns on the truck. Of course if I install air horns than someone in the convertible may have to make a trip to the emergency room.

I had a friend tell me a story about how he was driving down a street in his Dodge pickup, when a group of teenagers, spread out and walking down the road in front of him, blatently looked at him then refused to move out of the way so he could pass. So he let loose a little blast on the airhorn and one of the boys just about lost his pants! Then they got out of the road and let him roll by

When I was a lot younger, (and could still hear everything), I got hold of a railroad air horn from a locomotive and installed it on my semi tractor. When I pulled the chain, items would rattle off the shelves of the shop. It would wake the dead.

I then had a car pass me one day on a two lane highway and not pull back in the right lane. See, he was kinda sleepin. I hit him with that horn just before he was about to have a head-on with an oncoming car and, Man, I thought he'd hit the ditch. He got me to stop and thanked me with cases of candy bars and potatoe chips. He was a traveling salesman.

I sure liked that horn.

I wish people who drive would do that, and only that. I also wish that driving laws were enforced more strictly in this regard. As a motorcyclist, these people make my choice of transportation one that I'm seriously thinking of giving up. Idiots, all of 'em.

True Story

I have a friend in Manhattan who was going blind. My son, who does not drive, went to visit him. They decided to go cruising with my friend driving and my son giving directions, right, left, brake, stop etc.
