last fall while out in washington state...i missed the opportunity to find out about a clam gun....can anybody explain the operation, or provide a plan to build one....

A clam gun involves no explosives. It is a 3 to 4 inch diameter pipe about 36 " long. It's threaded on one end and capped. It has a T-handle welded to the pipe cap and a 1/4 " hole drilled in cap (that you can reach with your thumb).

Principle: Find a clam snorkel sticking out of sand, push gun over clam snorkle as far as you can, cover thumb hole and pull.

It is a suction device!

Screwing up your face just right whilst applying gun to clam may help process. Prayer might also be useful....
