The Eddie Bauer Isn't Dead
Did the factory tour today for the umpteenth time mainly to see the expanded facilities. Was very surprised to see not one but two 27' Eddie Bauer's on the line. Asked Don what was going on and he said these were two prototypes with new interiors. The one that was almost finished had what looked like the hickory cabinets that they used in the Classic for years. The second was in early stages so couldn't tell much. I thought the small number they made at the start of the 2016 model year was the last of the Eddie Bauer's but looks like this model may make a comeback.

Apparently they renewed their agreement with EB. I would like to see an LL Bean model.

I'd like to see a GW model in the 50K area, well appointed, 30'.

It's not an Eddie Bauer you saw. It will be re-launched with another co-branding partner. If you've been to an AS dealership recently, you may be able to figure out who that partner is.

What do they do with the prototypes? That would be cool to get one.
How about a Harley Davidson model?

Hmmm . . . my interest is piqued, but not for hickory wood or another woodsy look. There are enough of those on the market in SOBs. I was hoping for something more like the International models. We will wait and see. Maybe I'll head to our dealer on the weekend.

I know there are fans of this design but I can't see it. We camp mainly in hot/humid environments and opening the rear hatch would dump any cool AC air and in cool climates warm air. What can you really put in the back of this design without upset the hitch weight? Can't see putting motorcycles in the back, maybe a few mountain bikes but then you have figure out how to secure the contents as the trailer backend bounces down the road. As far as afflicting with another brand, Eddie Bauer seems more interested in clothing than much gear. LL Bean has a little more outdoor product diversity. I wonder what percentage of sales is the Airstream "kinda like" toy hauler.

I just saw pictures on Facebook, and the new model is the "100th Anniversary of Pendleton" edition. Even a Pendleton dog bed. Hickory wood. Quite beautiful, if you like the woodsy look. I can appreciate the beauty, even though it's not for me. Nice job.

On your Facebook, just search "2016 airstream pendleton special editions" for photos.

Thanks to those of you who posted instructions on how to find the photos!
Hmmm.... I liked the Eddie Bauer a lot better.
It does say "Limited Edition design celebrating the 2016 National Park Service Centennial." The logo on the front window indicates "1916-2016." One would assume that it's only a 2016 model, then? Hopefully, they'll keep some of the new features from this model (like the new sink and faucet, as well as the cooktop/stove from the Classic) and have a new sponsor for 2017, or at least a model without all the crazy theming...

My first reaction is that it looks like a amateur Pinterest hack on a vintage trailer with pallet wood.
And I adore Pendleton products and their legacy.
It SHOULD have instead taken the look from the cover of House Beautiful that I was leafing through at the store ( and yes those are Hudson Bay and not Pendletons, but it's the clean crispy look that I like)

Definitely not my thing - I never liked the striped hickory cabinets in the Classics either

Not sure what model is being discussed anymore.
But on Facebook the caption read something about a log cabin look.
I sure don't see anything resembling a log cabin in the photos.

The Facebook photos show the wood (probably hickory like the earlier Classics) and countertops under the bluish Airstream overhead lighting. The mismatched drawer and cabinet wood grain don't help. Unfortunate. It will look much better with natural light, and I think the rich brown upholstery and Pendleton blankets are a nice complement.
The hatchback and open interior is one of Airstream's most versatile designs, easy to reconfigure to suit you. I can see two rich brown leather recliners in there with an expandable hickory table between them.
Maybe because we just bought two wool Pendleton blankets for winter use in our Airstream last week, we like the new Airstream very much.

This is another change I don't like - it lost the fold-up Eddie Bauer seating. The new seats look the same as all the other models - just the Eddie Bauer-style table remains. I would assume that they're just as hard (or easy?) to remove as the seating in any other 25FB/27FB model.
Overall, I'd say that the title of this thread is misleading - the Eddie Bauer is, in fact, dead.

It took me about an hour to remove all the seating and table in our Airstream with a power screwdriver, I would imagine similar time to the Eddie Bauer or the new model, for those who like to customize their Airstream.

Good to know, thanks - I thought they were probably just bolted to the floor, but I didn't know for sure. The nice thing about the EB model, however, was that it wouldn't leave any screw holes in the floor if you removed the seats. Sure, it left screw holes in the wall instead, but I think that might be easier to live with. Also, it looks like there are some HVAC outlets, electrical outlets, etc. that would need to be moved on the new model.
A nearby dealer has more photos & a Thor brochure up here:
http://woodlandtravelcenter.net/wp-c...m-Brochure.pdf
According to that, it's a special edition of only 100, and only for 2016 (I have no idea how many EBs they made per year, but that sounds like a lot). This model will only be available in a 27FB model - for a "National Park" model, you'd think they would have retained the 25FB from the EB line too.
