New 2014 Sport 16' - why are the running lights blinking when parked?

Just returned from our first camping trip with our Sport 16'. This morning we noticed the running lights blinking. It is still attached to our 2014 MB ML63 AMG. Called the Airstream dealer...they have no idea. Is this a Mercedes question?

Have you checked your running lights before? Has this happened before or is it new?

Are the hazard lights or your turn signal activated in the tow vehicle when this happens? How about the headlights? If so you may have a wiring problem.

If the hazard lights are off in the tow vehicle, do the lights blink in a repeatable fashion (like your turn signals do) or are they just flickering randomly? If they are flickering randomly it might be a loose connection (maybe where the trailer connects to the tow vehicle).

You might try shutting off the car. Disconnecting the trailer plug from your car, and then liberally spraying some contact cleaner on both sets of connections. Then plug and unplug the connector several times, make sure the plug is firmly seated in the socket, and then turn on the car and see if the problem has gone away.

Good luck!

Some European vehicles send a test pulse through the wiring to determine if there is a trailer connected. Your trailer has LED lights, which are very sensitive to those voltage pulses. If you had a trailer with incandescent bulbs, chances are, you would never even see them flash.

Why are the running lights blinking

This happens to me too. I also have a European car bur don’t know if that’s the issue. It’s a VW Touareg. VW installed the 7pin connector for me. That’s where the issue is. I just unplug it when camping and then reconnect again when towing.
