1990 Excella 1000

I have recently acquired a 90 excella 1000 34 ft Airstream. I've wanted one for years. It looks to be in descent condition. Both end caps have dents in them it doesn't appear to be leaking. Most so the vinyl wall coverings seem to only need cleaning. The wall paper in the kitchen area is bubbling and pealing in some areas and is covering wood paneling. I'll be posting some pictures soon. Any advice or info on things to look for would greatly be appreciated.

I haven't finished reading through other posts or even started I this one but I'm already looking forward to finding another little smaller one for a hunting project.

Level the trailer and hook up water and power. Fire up the water heater after you purge the air from the lines. hopefully the PO left some propane in the tanks. Fire up the fridge on electric and monitor that it starts to get cold. Once it starts to get cool switch to propane and make sure it continues to get colder. The list goes on, but in general test all systems (heater, stove, microwave, shower, toilet, sinks, lights, 115 outlets, converter, batteries) Haul your shop vac into the trailer and start vacuuming all the carpets and cabinets. While doing this look for signs of water damage or outright leaks. Give her a good cleaning and you'll find things that need attention. In other words fire it up in the front yard and use it. We had a water leak after we bought our trailer used and found other minor problems. I'm sure there is more and others will chime in to help. Make a repair list then start camping!

BTW...Welcome!

Welcome to the forums!! A couple of things to do right away, first look at the gasket around the vent stack, it usually needs replacement. Window gaskets are next on the list, as are the roof vents and their gaskets. I know you don't get much rain in Az, but you don't want any leaks from these areas. Fire things up and make sure everything works. I picked up our 34' in May, and have done a lot of little things to it. Major work going on now. Three new axles complete, after breaking one at a rally!! Have fun with the new unit, and don't be afraid to ask questions on the forum. Everybody has been a great help to me here. If you get really stuck, call Andy at Inland!
