Not sure it’s fair to knock airstream corporate trying to help you but you not willing to let them, just my opinion though. Timing is tough on transportation as it’s a third party. Depending on where you are, it could take up to a week or more for them to get your Nest and depending on the fix needed it may take another week or longer, then time to transport it back.
Assuming it’s a simple fix: Dealer should be able to get the window fixed, we had a very small leak develop in our front window on our classic. I was going to take it to Jackson Center but the second dealer I went to in order to fix it assured me they could handle it. Not sure of build materials around the glass but for ours they ended up just placing more caulking in the joint area to prevent water from settling near the glass. Hasn’t leaked since and was probably $3 in caulk they used. I love the fact that airstream would incur all of the transportation expenses to make this right for you. |
I was happy to hear Airstream tell me that they would take it back to the factory -- but they couldn't tell me when I could have it back. I live in MN and I already have plans for Sept and Oct camping. In my opinion, as a customer who has already paid for their brand new Airstream that is leaking water, it should be a priority to get my unit fixed so I can actually use it. After the camping season is over for me I'll gladly send it back to Ohio if they can promise that I'll get it back in time for Spring camping in April. That's the least they can do. Afterall -- if I had these types of severe problems with a car I feel like it would either be replaced OR they'd give me a loaner to use until they could fix it.
I didn't invest dollars in a camper this year to let it sit back at the dealer or in Ohio. To say I am disappointed in the quality and the response from Airstream is an understatement.
I remain hopeful, though, that the dealership can help me!
