Page Title: power converter | Flickr
Page Description: Ding! Just as the Safari's factory warranty was about to expire, the OEM Parallax 7355 power converter died.
Options? Haul the trailer to the nearest Airstream service facility for replacement of the same single-stage, cheesy unit, or (what the heck) replace it ourselves with a three-stage Xantrex TrueCharge RV XADC unit.
WIth matched distribution panel.
So. This isn't a "how-to". Just a few pics of the result.
While I had the opportunity, I plumbed in a new furnace duct behind the installed XADC. The factory configuration had only the forward-facing vent, which did a fine job blasting the bathroom door directly in front, but did a poor job of actually heating the trailer. The new vent opens toward the front of the trailer, for more even (and thorough) heating.
