1955 Flying Cloud Bunk house with cool door knob lever
I Everyone
I'm looking for information on a 1955 Flying Cloud, bunk house. Did airstreams ever install bunks beds? This one has 5 bunks in rear of trailer and they were well installed, A clean installation. Also I have never seen this type of door knob-lever. You can pull out on the lever and still move it up or down. I'm going to have a lock-smith take a look at it to make up a key. webpage to photos Stewart's space
Any thoughts would be helpful
Thank you
Shan

Very interesting trailer, and colorful. Looks like a fun project. I have seen bunk beds factory installed (I think) in a 1956, 26ft Airstream I had a couple of years ago. It was too much of a project for us and we really wanted a longer trailer so we sold it to a good friend, but it had bunks in the back that honestly looked factory and each side had its own upper window just the height of that bunk. Not sure what to make of the door knob.

The bunk install looks factory, but it could have been a really good home job as well.
Cool trailer.

Looks like you could add some good storage under the front dining area also. She doesn't look bad for her age at all. Congratulations!

Hi, sorry for not coming back. I have been working on our Wally Byam Holiday.
The fram is done, and I'v been putting the floor back together, so I can re-set the house.
The FC 55 has lots of room under the front seats. I'm planning on putting in a bank of batter on one side, and a new water system across the front, the old water tank is gone. We're going to use it, as is for now. At some point will put it back to is original floor plan. We are planning on brining it to the Lake Casitas rally in April 09
Hope to see some of you there.
Shan

Wye yes it is John. This trailer was set up with just cold water and was used as a cabin at Big Bear in the summer months. You should see the kitchen faucet, a pair of hose bibs, very nice. It needs some updates. I hope to restore it in the near future.
Thank for reading.
Merry Christmas
Shan

I would love to see pictures of that bunk room if anyone has them! We are building something similar. The link no longer has the photos.

Try contacting "Shan" directly, the way they were describing the handle, it sounded like they owned it.

Speaking of Airstream factory bunk houses, here's a really nifty one. Photo is on this site for Vintage Trailer Transport: Vintage Trailer Transport
And here's the photo of the 40 foot railroad bunk house trailer in case the site goes down someday. Wonder what that locker looking door is to the right of the rear entrance door. So cool!

Railroad trailers
There was one in Oakridge OR, a year or so ago.
I would love to find one to restore. That’s one big project.

There's one of those at the railroad museum in Portola, Ca. northeast of Sacramento.
