insulation and asbestos

can anyone tell me about the insulation underneath the interior panels. i am taking off the interior panels to replace the electrical and plumbing. i wanted to know about asbestos. also is there any good way to strip or clean the panels after i have taken them off. i do not know yet if i am going to put them back or use another material. my airstream was too destroyed for a restoration so we are just making it very modern. i have a 1963 safari. i am working today so if anyone is out there soon with a quick comment i appreciate it.

Insulation

I don't think you'll find much asbestos. The wall insulation is regular fiberglas. I found a few pieces of asbestos around the stove top and the furnace. It is a light gray fiberous material, usually thin strips that break apart easily. Very hazardous. Keep wet and send to a hazardous waste site.

Depending on the flooring, also there could be asbestos tiles on the floor. Most of the older 4" x4" tiles could be asbestos tiles. Care should be used when removing any such tiles.
