wait -- there's no 12v plugs in this unit? meh! that may be a deal killer; unless they can retrofit some in for me.

Should be an easy retrofit. Just pull the USB socket it out, snip the wires at the back, solder in a 12V receptacle... you get the picture.
Basically I am saying the 12V system is there, the USB outlets should have a 12V to 5V converter inside them. much like the little adapters you can get for your car.
It is early, I hope that made sense....

it makes sense -- I wasnt sure if the USB plugs were downconverts from the 12v or the 120v inverter system (so that airstream would only have to run 120v anything, rather than two seperate systems.... which I can see them doing.)

I found the wire behind one of the USB plugs under the dinette and connected a 12V plug to it - took all of 10 min and the plug hides out of the way under the dinette when I'm not using it. I didn't even need to take anything apart - it was easy to reach behind and poll out the extra wire to splice in the 12v plug which I bought at a NAPA store for less than $10. That way I kept both the USB plugs and added a 12V.

Fc 26u
Finally turned in my beloved FC 20'; just needed more room for friends, and brought my 26U home yesterday. LOVE IT. Superb design -- looks as if they finally listed to users! Still not packed or unpacked, but looking forward to getting it right for me.

26U Twin
Saw the new 26U Twin bed floorplan at the RVIA trade show on Tuesday. Here's a quick video I did of it:

26U interior
We have our new 26U, after upgrading and downsizing from our 2005 30' classic, but I do feel that Airstream dropped the ball a bit on the interior curtains...just plain white blah...so I made some pinch pleated curtains and attached them on top of the existing AS ones...NOW it looks spectacular!!

Beautiful choice for the curtains! Can you describe how you attached them on top of the originals? Thanks, Joe

The plan was to take the curtains down and I was going to sew the new ones at the top and bottom, but that was looking like too much work (plus the dinette was in the way) I ended up pinning them top and bottom, used needle and thread for the ends.

Went to Foley RV in Gulfport MS, nice group of folks to deal with, to look at the 26U. I have to say for the most part, I liked it. The biggest drawback for me was that it had less storage than my 2006 23 footer. They had a 28 footer that has substantially more storage space with the rear bed and the closets on both sides of the bed. Wonder if at some point if it would be possible to swap out the dinette for the U shaped dinette that, think are used in the newer 23 footers.

Wow! The new pleated curtains really make a difference. They are gorgeous, love the print you chose! Thanks for sharing.

Love those curtains & thanks for the idea! We're looking to do something on the white curtains on our Sport, too, and that looks an easier solution

I really like this floor plan and look forward to seeing one in person. Would also hope for an International version in the future.

The U-dinette is very desirable due to its versatility. We would like to see one in real life, especially with twin beds. Pbarstow, the curtains are gorgeous. Great fabric choice.

The U-Dinette is a major concern for me. I went up to Safford RV a month or so ago when they had a 26U on the lot and setup the table to check out the different config options. Even with both leaves in place and locked together, the stability of the table is a concern -- with a coffee cup filled half with water, anyone mildly bumping the table on a stand up, sit in or move around spilled the water -- ie, the same stability issue I saw in the rear-hatch models.
The dinette bed is amazing - at 7' in height, I had ample room at my feet and above my head for a full sleep -- and the dinette cushions are memory foam (or memory foamy like) with an amazing comfort.
Finally, the mid bath is again, amazing -- At my height, in my 28W, sitting in the shower, my legs are crammed over to one side -- I had full room to stretch when sitting in the shower of the 26U compartment - and far better "knee room" when sitting on the "captains chair."
With a superior bath, and a superior dinette guest bed, I still would have reservations dropping from my 28W arrangement. I guess I like the wall secured stability of the dinette table too much - and I like the ability to share guest bed and not impinge on the dinette at all - or at least have two separate seating areas (dinette and L-Lounge) so I am not jammed up next to my guests on a rainy day all afternoon.

My wife and I went around and around about AS trailers. Nothing was comfortable other than the top of the line Classic. All the other trailers came with uncomfortable cushions atop hard bench seats. It didn't matter if it was the in dinette area or the lounging areas. All of the interior seating were uncomfortable... until the 26U. What a difference! The U shaped eating/lounging areas have cushions that provide long term comfort. So much so, we've made the decision to purchase the 26U. So we're pretty excited.

I went through the same experience.....totally agree with you....Picking up the 26U with twin beds come early January.
CanAm RV in London has a 26U with Queen bed sitting on the lot right now.

Newbie here currently seriously looking at the 26U. Really like the comfort of the U shaped lounge. Read a few posts that mentioned the instability of the dinette table. We also noticed that and was wondering if the dealer hadn't set it up properly or it was a design issue.
Also, we're looking at the twin version but the concern is that you loose a lot of the storage space.
Interested in any feedback/experience from anyone also considering, or have purchased the 26U.
