I take delivery of my 26U in a couple of weeks and that's something I checked into. The 26U vents refrig heat up through a vent on the roof. Like a chimney effect this draws air over the refrig fins without a fan.

My 25FC RB Twin must be as your 23. Due to the location of the frig, more importantly what is above the fridge, if it prevents the hot air from venting straight to and out the roof, then it must exhaust the heat out the side. Thus the need for a fan.

Going to be nice not hearing that annoying whine.

We also own a 2008 23', and if we were to go larger I think it would be for the 26U. But I hope you are not spending $80K just to get a quieter refrigerator!

For about $100 we got a switch on the fan and installed quieter fans. Solved the problem.

Angry Somedays, AS makes me shake my head!

Hi Greg....we're sitting in our new 26U right now at the Alumina Rally in SC. Left Canada over 3 weeks ago.

A word of caution when you get your 26U.

After just 3 days of use, the shower head pulled away from the shower stall wall. My DW uses the shower head as a hand held unit and that just sped up the problem. Turns out the shower head bracket is just held on by 2 5/8" screws which simply are screwed through the 1/6" fiberglass shower stall wall. Same with the hose bracket. No wood backing or other means of anchoring the above.

So, went to Lowes and found a great Suction Showerhead Bracket. Aqua Source product #0663227. In the bath/taps section. Sticks to the fibreglass wall securely and is is to remove and reinstall.

Then bought a small pack of #8 x 1 1/4" Stainless Steel screws that went through the original hose bracket mount holes and were long enough to reach the wood of the outside wall with out going right through. Tightened down, that holder isn't going anywhere.

Lastly, mixed up some a/b epoxy and filled the two original holes at the shower head location. When I get home, I'll smooth off the epoxy and hopefully the Suction Shower Bracket will cover that location.

Hope this will save you and some others a bit of grief. For the amount I paid for this trailer in Canadian funds, can't believe AS is so careless and cheap with this install!

No, we're not looking to replace our 23FB with a 26U just because of the refrigerator fan . We replaced the original, loud fan with a high powered computer fan - much quieter and it came with a blue backlight that shines out like a beacon after dark! We have always preferred our 23FB layout over the other AS floorplans, but really do like the new 26U and think we might like it over our current 23FB. We are still debating, though.

I too have my kill switch on the fan. No I am not spending 80K for a quiet frig:-) starting June 7th I will be spending the next 2 years plus traveling and living in my AS. The 26 meets my very mobile yet long term storage and comfort needs.

Great feedback and will do the same. Thank you. Also the shower hose AS always installs is stiff and not flexible. It too puts undo stress on the shower head bracket. Most aftermarket hoses a very flexible.

We replaced the AS original shower head with Oxygenics system as soon as we got our 25' home and it works great.

I love my 26U. The Flying Cloud 20' was perfect for me (solo) with Bertie (miniature poodle), but entertaining anyone inside was impossible (dinette OR my bed). This is exactly what I needed. I keep it with a single one of the tables up -- perfect for computer work or guests and drinks. Bathroom great and in ONE place; bed-making still hassle enough for me (one destroyed rotator cuff) that I've gone back to my sleeping bag for nights. But on the whole, LOVE it!

Got home after two month's in our 26U.
Got to measure the voltage to TV amp. Have problem that when you turn on overhead light's we loose 1/2 the stations. Not sure if i found anything. Volt was 13.73 ,with lights on =13.70 lights & furnace on=13.55 . Not a lot of diff. We were trying to pick up stations about 30 miles away. Now in Chicago area Stations are close. So I guess it's normal. Will try to find a different amp or antenna system.
All the other systems worked good. Really like the 26U Twin.

A lot better than changing out twice a day . More room for a cold beverage of choice.

Tried to add winterize kit as LilBigFoot posted pix. I could not close panel when done. My panel has a different hose /connect design. Will take pix and post.

26U Maiden Voyage

On March 30 we took our 26U on our first adventure to Point Lookout State Park on southern Maryland. I have several things to report.

First, we absolutely love the 26U floor plan. (Of course we do, it's the one we choose!) But honestly, there are things you typically would not notice. It hs a lot to do with how things are laid out. The 26U has hidden storage under the U dinette. Nice surprise! And speaking of the dinette, it is nice how versatile it is. There are other panels that come off to reveal more hidden storage space for small items. I'm sure other Airstreams have this as well.

It was cold but not freezing, the heat pump was great. We had a full hookup, so we got to experience using all the inputs and outputs. We had no issues or problems.

The macerator toilet worked fine. The Propride hitch made it a bit more difficult to open the front outside storage compartment. And if we are not careful, we could easily dent the door. We need to protect against that. The shower is a nice size and we like the bathroom having both shower and toilet in one area that is private with a window.

I don't like the bed layout with the roof locker over the left side (my side) of the queen bed. I hit my head several times. I'll learn!

Our 2014 Ram (with Hemi, 8 speed, 4x4, downhill gear, quad cab) did just fine! No big hill yet but that will come. Mileage was a little above 13 mpg.

So far we love it and we're taking it out again for 5 night this Tuesday, back to Point Lookout. Nice park... but oh my the mosquitoes!

This is the one we purchased on Amazon, but there are other styles with larger heads from same manufacturer. After reading other posts about conserving water with good pressure, we went this direction. For me, it took a little getting use to as I am 6.0 and a "little" overweight in that shower, but it works great and I can usually get in/out including shampoo in 3 min...minimum water usage. Wife...well.... that's takes a minute or 2 longer!

Hello....Here is a pix of my Panel.

Here is the inside...

The round vent is hot air and is adjustable for direction. I aimed it towards the bedroom. The bedroom is not as warm as the front of the coach. Maybe a good thing for sleeping.

Your photo shows a rectangular hooked up vent....assume that's hot air. Were's your cold air return? Mine seems to just be a hole there in the panel and no venting out of the trailer. I assume that's a cold air return or is it just a ventilation opening?

If you're going to the Mother Ship for work.....you could have them convert the panel similar to mine and then your by-pass would fit. Don

I was at JC on Thursday night. My bathroom door is either warped or hinge is screwed on crooked. Door does not fit properly at the top. The rep who looked at my problem more or less admitted that they're having issues with the 26U bathroom walls and door. I also have a bubble [air pocket] in the floor right at the base of the bathroom door. Only a cosmetic issue. A couple more cosmetic issues to deal with and all is good so far. I'll be back at JC in the fall. Otherwise, love the big, all in one bathroom, macerator toilet and all.

It was 29*F when we were at JC Thursday night. Thank goodness the furnace worked all night and kept us toasty. We were headed home to Canada with a temperature -3* below freezing for 3 days, so I winterized the AS at the Terra Port. The by-pass mod worked well....20 minutes and 2 gallons of the pink stuff.

Your and my cosmetic issues will seem like small potatoes when you talk to other AS owners at JC regarding their problems. Complete main door falling off.....water leaks causing mould along one inside wall so 6 month old trailer needed a complete gutting and rebuild. We're well off so far.
