The new Dometic SMEV CU434 stove/oven operation

Has anyone used this new stainless steel oven and was the temperature fairly even once up to temperature? The prior stoves were very erratic in their temperature control.

I have not, and I hope this isn't considered hijacking, but I will say when I pulled the top grates off for cleaning (THE FIRST TIME!!!) all the rubber grommets pulled out with the grates. Most were torn vertically and/or came apart. Seriously?!? I assume with proper lubrication they will stay seated, but maybe just a design flaw them being to small/thin. Having trouble finding exact replacements in the US. I see some sold in the EU for crazy prices. I assume I'll need to MacGyver an alternate solution.

Oven hotter in the back so you have to turn things around to cook evenly. Yes the rubber grommets break no matter how hard you try to not break them. Have not come up with a fix but does not cause any problems with cooking or cleaning yet

Mine did the same thing - and I don't have the SMEV Dometic - Please don't tell on me but I had an old rubber floor mat that was badly worn - a one inch square with a hole drilled in the center just big enough for the grate now rests on top of the stovetop. Went to my local camping supply place and they didn't know what I wanted until I asked for "rubber stove ***holes" and what they sold me is still sitting in the kitchen drawer because it looks flimsy. I did keep an extra 3 squares of the floor mat, and the drill is charged. Duh.

I have a 1972 with magic chef wall oven, I just saw, DOMETIC OG 3000 Oven With Grill. It looked interesting, has anyone used one of these to replace the old magic chef wall oven?

The stove grommets are not currently available in the US in black. They are available in grey (P/N 44990001248) from various sources for less than half the European prices or Airstream. Just Google the P/N.

I actually just bought a temp gauge for our oven to test it. At the front of the oven it was extremely accurate to the dial and consistent. Obviously, it will be hotter near the heat source. so, as beetlebob mentions, don’t forget to rotate the item often. I have only baked a pizza in there and it turned out great, don’t know if I would trust a turkey.

I bought a thermometer to be sure I knew oven temperature and found that I had consistent temperatures. I use the oven for baking cakes, cookies, and biscuits and it works very well.

Furrion has a line ov RV ranges and ovens. I’ve been told they are more accurate than the Dometics.

I don’t care for the Dometic stove top. Seems a sauce pan could slip off a burner and make a mess.

Aside from the rubber grommets that already are difficult to source, does anyone know how to easily access the underside of the cooktop to clean the little metal catch shelf under the vented area? There are two screws, but they connect to the shelf and are not used to access the underside.

Any help is appreciated.

What a terribly designed stove! Good grief!

Stove will have to come out to be disassembled to replace the igniter switch.
