? Eddie Bauer being Discontinued

I've heard the Eddie Bauer model is being discontinued - does anyone know that for certain? Any plans to make another model with a rear hatch? (beside the limited edition Pendletons, which are beautiful). Thanks.

Hello

Hello and welcome to the forums! I am unaware of any other model with the hatch, and I think the EB was discontinued for the Pendleton units. John

The Eddie Bauer is being discontinued according to dealers we have talked to; they are well-liked and popular. The Pendleton uses the same shell but it is limited production, very popular and selling well for an additional $30K.

For these reasons expect to see more of the outdoorsy-themed rear hatch Airstreams. They've found people who like the interior of lodges rather than traditional luxury or sterile modern.

Yes, Eddie Bauer has been discontinued and replaced by limited 100 pcs of Pendleton this year. I'm pretty certain, that Airstream will have either new or "limited" model next year as well featuring rear hatch.

I have been trying to get rear hatch installed in existing models, but so far it has been pretty difficult (or very costly).

We lucked into a used EB last March (had not been used very much at all). After using it for about 10,000 miles last year, would not want any other unit. Our dealer thinks they will come out with another similar unit - I guess AS and Eddie are not getting along these days......

Well... lets see what Eddie has to say if AS starts talking to LL & the Bean....

Personally, I’ve never been one to pay extra money to advertise someones brand. The hatchback is very cool (& useful) but calling it an 'Eddie Bauer' or a truck model a 'King Ranch', etc. and then have to pay a premium for that name... well, it just doesn’t make sense...

Now, if they were to offer a discount to carry that advertisement around...

IMO, the "Eddie Bauer" model (name only) was probably discontinued for political reasons, the Eddie Bauer company's connotation of racist attitude.

Carry On!

I agree with Jaxon. To wit, the Pendelton is a nice looking AS, but is there $35K added value?

I for one hope AS comes out with a 28' like the Pendleton but without the $30K price hike. The wife and I want up buy a larger unit, love the floor plan of the Pendleton, we do not particularly like the bump out for the kitchen sink on the Bow Wow units. We need the rear hatch to haul our toys.

I'd also love a hatch in a longer model. Imagine the storage possibilities!

Whenever anyone wants to sell me an item with someone else's name/product on it, I ask them; "How much will you pay ME to advertise your product?"
That shut's them up!

Years ago I was teaching a Junior Achievement class in Northern Nevada. WE got to talking about advertising and I took it one step further, asking him about the Nike advertising, and other advertising on their clothes. The next week (these are usually five to eight week lesson plans) not a single kid in the class wore clothes with a product name on it.

A small victory in my sojourn into academia....

Good plan johndag. note that the Eddie Bauer was not the first Airstream rear hatch in recent years; Google Panamerica. What goes around comes around.

One of my favorite peeves. Every motor vehicle that darkens my driveway seems to be sullied by someone's assumption that I am expected to be an advertising agent for the seller. When they are required to remove it, they assume I am a special kind of idiot. Maybe an idiot, but not a patsy.

Total number of Eddie Bauer builds

I recently purchased a slightly used 2015 Eddie Bauer 27FB, and am happy to have found it as the last remaining new and used units are nearly gone. I'm curious to find out what the total number of Eddie Bauers that were ever built from MY2011 to MY2016?

Not a question of any significant importance, more of a curiosity than anything.

Anyone else noticed that Airstream has now taken the EB off their website offering menu?

? Eddie Bauer being Discontinued

That is a good question JayleNBob. I also wonder how many EB were made in that time frame. I was at a dealership a couple of months ago and overheard a salesman making a pitch for the used EB on their lot. He was saying that this model is rare and not many were made. Therefore as he was saying "the EB will become more sought after and the resale value will continue to be good "
