Style on the Road Part 2 - The Bathroom

Style on the Road Part 1 - Tableware, was quite popular.....
http://www.airforums.com/forums/f483...are-76478.html

....so, as they say, back by popular demand.

I thought we'd devote part 2 to the bath.

The typical Airstream bathroom isn't the most ambitious space to work with, but I think it can be gussied-up a bit to compliment whatever decor theme you have going in the other parts of the trailer.

The "Fly at Night" is in the process of being decked out in something that is close to my heart - vintage aviation. I wanted the bathroom to reflect that and be "girly-girl," kinda like the swinging stewardesses of the sixties. I already had one accessory - a vintage Pan Am flight bag in classic royal blue.

So, the hunt was on to dress up the bath around my Pan Am bag.

I found this page from one of those romance comics about stewardesses. I thought it was kinda wacky, so had it enlarged and stuck it on the bathroom wall opposite the loo. (There's nothing like having something to read, right?)

The trusty Pan Am flight back looks good on the counter and carries a lot of stuff, i.e. the "girly-girl" stuff - cosmetics, nice-smelly stuff etc. See the vintage Pan Am postcard stuck on the wall too?

The "Dollar Store Queen" (yours truly) found this wastebasket there. The colours and geometric design were perfect. Doesn't that remind you of the 1950s, early 1960s?

Dollar store towels - the pattern and colours were perfect!

Anything silver/chrome looks good in an Airstream. Found this chrome cup to hold the toothpaste etc. It is engraved wth "Top of the World." Perfect!

Another Dollar Store find, this "Travel the World" picture frame. The airplane is a DC-3 which I know rather well. The soap/lotion dispenser in the corner looks kinda nice with the blue liquid handsoap. One dispenser - two uses - saves space.

The space age was concurrent with the jet age. Loved this little astronaut dish that could hold a bar of soap. One neat thing about Airstream is the way everything is reflected on the walls/ceiling.

The total bathroom from the hall.

And what's a bath/shower without a rubber duckie?

I hope you enjoyed FAN's bathroom tour, but remember, the bathrooms in this aircraft are equipped with a smoke detector so.....ha! ha!

Let's have some fun - splish, splash....let's see your bath(room)!

did the unit come with the towel rack beside the sink? If not how did you secure the towel rack?

The unit came with the pre-installed towel rack.

However, the toothbrush holder was not. Found it in one of the drawers.
I just stuck it on with those sticky picture hangers.

Really unique and super cute theme idea. I love all the classics, but I get tired of the same ones all the time. Including my own, not super inspiring 70's Hawaii theme. I'm guessing you are watching "Pan Am"?

I love your creativity and your ability at finding the perfect items at Dollarama. Well done! Hopefully we'll meet at a rally some day. I want to see your whole trailer in real life!

Hi mega,

Thank-you.

I'm afraid I am not watching Pan Am, as I don't get the station where I live.

Besides that, my friend flies for a major and his stories are probably more titillating~!

Hi bolerama,

I would love to meet you and many other Airstreamers.

Maybe we'll check-out the dollar store someday!
