Looks like you found out...Did you learn anything, Grasshopper?
What we need to find is a smiley hopping around in pain, holding a foot.

I have many lumps and bumps from working on our Airstreams, it seems the most common is knots on my head from running into the deployed awning arms. Of course, I can't take any photos, because I usually can't see right after whacking myself in the head...

I learned a good way to get to sit in the ER for 6 hours,

By the way the photo is the after photo. After the end of my thumb was stitched back together.

But the ER doc gave me some cool tools for future airstream projects.

I'd swear that's a photo of my thumb, after slipping when scraping some goo off the shell...

The awning roller was not on the AS and separate from the arms. (I plan to cut it down and put it on my Tradewind) Evidently, when you pull on this little lever thingy if the awning spring is tensioned it releases it really, really quickly. It was kind of like the thingy that holds the cheese on a mousetrap.

When I have put out mousetraps, they never work. Mice are intelligent

Your dog cares so much about you. In the picture your pooch is laying there with not a care in the world... so much for comforting you.

My thumb is now functional enough to type.

Thanks for the story Excella. Things can always be worse.

so, how is the awning?

so far, in 3 seasons (4 months each) besides the usual cuts and bruises, i've lost a thumb nail, blacked another, broken 3 ribs (at one time) and in Feb. a broken wrist. nobody told me this lifestyle was hazardous.

The edges of a panel can get you too. Crazy glue seals the most amazing things when you do not want to go to the Hospital. Strapping tape just reinforces it.

Ever walk into an open Hehr Standard window? The ones on a Bubble are high enough to not be noticed, but low enough to get you right in the noggin. Those corners are sharp, they might draw blood. The bleeding might be profuse. Just saying it could happen...

Be careful when drilling a small piece of aluminum, it can get away from you! Three stiches later and still no feeling in the end.

I'm so glad I don't have anything to contribute to this thread (yet). Now if you want to open it up to general home repairs, there was that time I got a good long taste of the 240v in the garage. That'll make you sit down in the lawn chair and quit for the day.

Oh ow! I am sorry but just wonder why the doc didn't remove then nail. Surely that is going to come off to. I tend to be accident prone so I try to get someone else to do the drilling!

Can't say I have I'll add it to my to do list. I'm 6'3" and for a season opener it takes about a dozen solid hits for me to remember to duck when exiting an AS. Does that count?

The doc didn't bother to take off the nail because he said it would fall off anyway.

I tried to bore a hole in my finger with a screw gun a couple of weeks ago when trying to reattach an errant piece of trim. The finger has mostly healed, but I still can't find all the pieces of the screw gun...
