We bought our first Airstream!

I'm so excited - we bought our Airstream! It's a 2014 25A Flying Cloud twin bed. It's our first foray into the rv/trailer life, although we lived on a sailboat for 3 summers, so at least we're used to small spaces.

The hardest part now is waiting...it's back in NJ so we'll wait until the weather is nicer before driving back and picking it up. I'm *hoping* to go the last week of March while my high schoolers are on spring break....I know the weather is toss-up at that time of year.

I'm busily pinning on Pinterest different color schemes and decorating ideas, while my husband is poring over all the boring mechanical stuff. I'll be joining 4CU and we hope to be using it by late April or May, and then we'll take a big summer trip back east in June/July.

I'm giddy!!

:-D

Giddiness is a good thing! My wife and I bought our first ever last year and we still can't wipe the smile off our faces. Most important learning for me last year - my worst day camping is still 10,000 times better than my best day in the office. :-)

Enjoy!!!

I looked at a 25 flying cloud twin this weekend. It's a great floor plan. I'm jealous!

Congrats! We bought ours last year, also having moved from sailing. We did not have much time to use it last year but did enjoy it when we did. This year we have already planned about 5 weeks of trips for the Spring. Post when you have questions...you will receive plenty of answers.

Thanks everyone! I'm thrilled to have found these forums - they're already on my twice-a-day reading list. So much great information!

Hope to meet some of you this year while we're on the road...not sure where all we're going, but I know I'll be out there for at least 3-4 weeks straight, and then long weekends here and there.

We're new too and know the feeling! We're in a 16' and just revisited looking at the 25 Flying Cloud…. I"m jealous! It is such a nice floor plan. We have a new Murano so we maxed out at pulling the 16' but you never know… for now it works. Enjoy!

Agreed, that and the 27' twin too. Congratulations.

It is good that you will have a big trip under your belt right away.

Congratulations!

You will absolutely love the twin beds, and as a plus (we had a 2011 queen size AS prior), the mattresses aren't that bad at all. The wife still prefers a topper for even more softness, but that's her preference.

We looked at the 27 foot trailer, but with the twin beds, the 25 is just as open as the 27.

If you bought at Colonial (like we did), you made the best decision of all.

You're in for a world of great experiences as a landlubber.

You are so lucky! You and yours are going to have great adventures in your new Airstream. You are wise to wait for spring for your first long towing experience. The weather out east has been rough. We visited the Jackson Center factory a year ago and found they are building a solid trailer. It's worth the effort to get there.

I have one that is 28 years old, and one that is 48 years old. Your new one is better built than my old ones. Your grandkids may be using it some day!

You gotta give your new trailer a nickname. Ours is "the 86" and "the 66". But I'm not very creative. Silver Twinkie was already taken!

Congratulations, we have the similar 25B queen bed. Really works well for us traveling all over the country, spending winters in Southwest (Tucson for several months now). You will enjoy it.

So happy for you. We bought our first (27') last July and had to wait 2 weeks to pick her up from Jersey. That was an extremely long 2 weeks. We have already taken 9 long weekends and one full week trip, tree more trips already booked. You are going to love it!

Congratulations!!

Thanks, Airboo! After over 2 long months, we start the drive back to NJ on Thursday. We are so excited, and praying good weather holds throughout our trip! Just want to get the AS safe and sound back to Phoenix.

Wishing you fun and safe travels. Your going to love it, the only real modification we have made so far was to purchase a 3" temperpedic mattress topper (it is heavenly) If you like a firm matress then you are set. Happy Trails!
