Air Compressors

We have been enjoying our 2014 Flying Cloud 27FB and was wondering if anybody out there takes along an air compressor? If so, do you have any advise on type, size, brand, etc? I do not plan on running any tools just looking for a handy way to maintain proper air pressure in the trailer and TV tires.

I carry a small 12 volt air compressor that I picked up at Harbor Fraight. As little as it gets used I saw no reason to buy a big bucks model.

At the house I use a small 5 Gallon model that serves me well.
You might also consider buying a quality air pressure gauge. The ones on air compressors are rarely correct reading. Also a tire pressure monitor system is nice to have for the increased peace of mind they can give.

I carry a small (hot dog tank) 120 volt compressor. Porter Cable. Also a 12 volt unit. It would take a really long time to air up a tire with the 12 volt unit.
Have had to winterize on the road a few times in my travels and the 120 volt unit works great for that and maintaining tire pressure.

I use a 12vdc Unit I got at Costco. It uses a lot of amps so connects directly to the TV battery. It wii fill a tire from 58# to 65# in 3 minutes.

Yep, I can top up all four tires 3 or 4 lbs in under ten minutes. The new 12 volt compressors are very efficient compared to older pumps. I used to have an old Bosch 12 volt pump that took 20 minutes to put a couple of pounds in.

Years ago we bought a two gallon Coleman portable compressor from some big box store (+/- $70). Added quick connects, and Last year replaced the polyvinyl hose with a Goodyear rubber 25' hose. Pretty fast to top off tires (only rarely needed.) Great when we plugged and re-inflated a trailer tire after picking up a tie-wire in road construction zone. Useful too for occasional blow-off nozzle, and helped blow scale out on deck faucet last Summer.

Small enough to run from our 600-watt inverter, and usually run from 1000 watt Yamaha generator. Honestly don't use air compressor even once a quarter, but when you need it, you really do. Two gallon or less takes up little space. Alternatively (and much more expensively) can use 12vdc fixed compressor and tank (as for air horns or lift bags.)

I put air horns on my truck with a 5 gallon tank at 175 psi, with a quick connect I can fill up tires on truck and trailer! Air horns of Texas...

I carry this. PORTER-CABLE CMB15 150 PSI 1.5 Gallon Oil-Free Fully Shrouded Compressor. It's small and lightweight but not 12 volt.

Got it for 60 bucks - can return if I don't like it within a month and any defect they replace in store within 2 years manager told me
