A factory installed sobriety test?

The first step going in is slanted down, while I can see why as the aluminum has worn on the second step where the hinge arm rests. Is this a factory installed soberiety test that comes only on Excella A/S?
If you can't navigate the steps you don't need another beverage...
Is there an easy fix for this or do I need to replace the steps altogether?

Our '87 has the same problem. You can purchase the step tread, but they are a little pricey. Out of Doors Mart has all of the pieces, nuts, bolts and washers.

Being frugal, I looked for an option to purchasing a new step tread. I took two heavy wire coat hangers and snipped off the "hook" a and placed them over the left and right hinge arms so that the wires fill in the voids left from the steps wearing. The lower step is now level.

I guess another option would be to have a someone do some aluminum welding / brazing and fill in the voids with a little bead of welding.

There is a little aftermarket steel bracket that attaches to step one and better supports step two. There is also an aftermarket support that you can install under step two to the ground. That needs to be readjusted each time you have a different ground level.

I just do not use step two and have a durable plastic box which I turn over and use as the step. I use the box to store the misc. pieces and put in the back of the truck when I travel. I install rough outdoor carpet on the bottom of the box to clean my shoes before entering the trailer.
