question...how often does one have to deal with wheel bearings maintenance....?on the road one has to check the wheel gets too hot Right???if it does what to do ,stop until they cool off ?????thanks

Per the owners manual and other wise men they should be checked once a year. Never had an issue with them on the road so no hands on knowledge.

i do not know how to change my : 1990 290 etc, it will not let me erace it....to now show 2008 17ft safari sport under the photo and la nomade???any idea ?

Carry a spare bearing set and learn how to replace them. When inspecting, it's hard to see the microscopic defects which might cause failure. We lost a bearing in the Yukon and were just lucky to find a replacement set at over $100. That was on a tandem axel trailer. The side forces are tremendous when cornering. You don't have that problem with a single axel. We also have a 2008 17 foot Safari. The bearings are a common size. You can buy them from Henderson in Boise Idaho. These are the part numbers for our axel. The prices are about five years old.

I was taught to apply grease only to the bearing and not put extra into the cavity between the bearings, but I'd like to hear from others on this subject.
