In preparation for
WMARSHA's wheels, I thought I'd see how spiffy these old rims could look. I don't know which I prefer, but now that I've gotten started, I guess I'll have at least 4 shiney things on the Overlander. As you can see, I really hate getting all that black polishing residue all over me...
As you can see, unpolished wheel looks very uniformly gray. As I was polishing, however, I discovered lots of dark corrosion spots as the top layer of oxidation was removed. I would say it took about 45 minutes per wheel to get them to where they look good at 10 feet. To get them to 3 feet would take another hour. I was using the red polishing bar (that
LEVON uses) and a wool polishing bonnet.
Is it going to be a problem finding center caps for these wheels?
