There is a post on the forum that stipulates the tire, wheel, brake and hub assembly are balanced in place on the axle as a set. That may be old practice as it's been a long time since tires were balanced while physically mounted on the vehicle.
Since the frame is not built in the AS factory, it can be assumed that whatever the process and spec are, the operation is performed by or at the direction of the frame manufacturer. It is one of the questions that I have on the list for my next factory trip. Pat
Could not find the post, but the following threads talk through a lot of the issues.

The reason for constant rebalancing is because the AS hubs are smaller than the hole in the wheels. Measure and order hub centric rings and problem is solved.

Model and part # help for both appreciated. Will be adding TPMS as well
Thanks

PS They are having an online $75 off on 4 sale at goodyear online on the
GYE's. About $103 a tire when buying 4. Good until march 31.

All I know is that we balance our 16" wheels with TPMS sensors installed. Then we put on the Centramatics. Per the company, we used the size called "#200-221 Special," which they said was fine for 16" wheels. Seems to work well, we're happy. Did we buy snake oil? Dunno, but things do seem less bounced about in the trailer when we park after a day of towing. Oh yes, we use the McGard lug nuts, with one locking lug nut per wheel.

Just an FYI about hub centric vs lug centric wheels
http://www.gregsmithequipment.com/Hu...Vs-Lug-Centric
When I got my new wheels I asked if they had the lug centric adaptors, yup no problem.

That casting for the 12" drum brakes being out out of balance can negate the effort of the tire balancing. If one had access to the equipment of old, they would spin the tire and wheel mounted on the drum bake and balance the assembly. So the Centramatic wheel balancer compensates for the cheapest available foreign made brake drums which are not balanced at the factory.
On my Gold Wings, the Centramatic balancers negated the need to balance the tires off of the bike and ran much smoother than when I had the tires spun balanced. There were two on the front on either side of the front wheel and one on the rear wheel.
I am looking for ways to reduce road vibrations into the coach and taking care of balancing the running gear makes sense to me. YMMV

Simple method to determine if your drums have been factory-balanced: Look for the spot-welded weights. In this (non AS) pic they are at the 6:30 - 8 O'Clock positions.
The ones on my AS Dexter axles were factory balanced.
Centramatics only balance a wheel when stabilized at speed.

On my Gold Wings, the Centramatic units were effectively balancing by about 15 mph. I never really felt an out of balance condition once the bike was moving. There were NO wheel weights once I started using the Centramatic units on the motorcycle because of the much lower mass of the wheels and tires, the Centramatic was adequate to do the job.
On my Airstreams the tire and wheel mass is much greater, so I have the Michelins spun balanced and let the Centramatic unit balances the brake drum and or rotor.
BTW, our Classic has 12" Disc brakes while our 23D still has the original 10" drum brakes modified to have auto-adjust feature with a new backing plate.

I have Centramatics on my F250 and my AS with 16" wheels and Michelin MS2. I run 2 sets of tires/wheels, one for summer,Michelin Defender, and one for winter, To yo M&S. No matter which tire dealer I go to, they can't seem to balance the Toyos. One would think the Centramatics would take care of that problem, but between 60-70 mph, there is a marked bounce. This doesn't happen with my set of Michelins. Now I am wondering if the Centramatics are woring at all.

Maybe the Toyo's are out of round or have some separation. Balancing might not help. Personally, I would not keep a tire that can not be balanced and bounces down the road.

I'm putting this in the same category with ProPride hitches, electric cars, and diesel engines. Proponents always have the last word.
