Hensley Bushing change?

I am doing a complete Hensley repaint and rebuild. When I took out the bushing it had cracked in two right along one of the welds. I always keep a spare but ordered a new spare along with a few other maintenance parts. When it arrived I noticed a difference I had never seen before.....

This is a close up of the new bushing set. The bottom is beveled. They are both allegedly 1000# bushings and are identical in every other respect. Is this new design to remedy the stresses resulting in the weld cracking...or did I get a wrong bushing?

That is to accommodate different lengths of spring bars. Some bars have a shorter distance from the bend to the slot. By machining that edge the bars with a shorter distance from the bend to the slot will engage with the grease fitting.

You don't have the wrong bushing but a 1000# bar from one manufacturer may be different than a 1000# bar from another.

The only difference with the new bushing, versus the old, is that the new bushing will not be engaged by the spring bar as quickly per as the jacks are used. The jacks may have to be jacked another 1/2" (that's a S.W.A.G. number) before they start to lift and distribute weight.

Thanks, Sean. Do they offer just the one now...with the bevel? With the slop in a 2 1/2" receiver, plus the additional slop in the reducer, I really don't have an extra 1/2" of lift to play with. (I know...PP has a tilt head! Smart.)

I'm not sure if it is actually a 1/2". I was just guessing.

Also not sure if they only have one now.
