1970 Sovereign ball size

Hello all,

I going to pick up a 1970 Sovereign this weekend. Anyone Know the correct hitch ball size? Sorry if it is already posted somewhere, but I couldn't find it.

Best Regards,

Scott

1970 was supposed to be 2 5/16" ball, but I have seen some with 2".

If it is a 31'r I would lay dollars to donuts that it is 2 5/16"

They are "cheap enough" you can get both, and return the one that doesn't fit your trailer. It would need to be at least an 8000 pound capacity ball.

You're welcome--save your receipt for your balls. Uhh, not sure how to fix that, and not sure I want to try...

There was a man from Nantucket....

I would hope that a Sovereign would have the 2-5/16".

So does mine. Let me know when you get your Sovereign back home. I can maybe give you some help with yours.

Thanks agai to all. I have one of each, with the 2 5/16 mounted on the drawbar and tools to swap them, if needed. Very generous offer Greg, I am sure I'll have several questions. We plan on staying in it Saturday (tomorrow) evening, but I am bringing sleeping blankets and the colman gas stove, and fresh, bottled water, because I am assuming that nothing works.

If I get any original paperwork, owners manuals, etc. I will be more than happy to scan copies if anyone need them... ... I'll post again when we return.

Thanks agin for the information,

Scott

Just a quick follow up - Got home about an hour ago. 411 miles and the old dry rotted tire held together. Now they will be put out to pasture for good. Yes just as all of you predicted, 2 5/16 was the ball size. Thanks to all,'

My 69 Sovereign actually has a 2" hitch. I'm thinking someone must have swapped it out over the years.
