I had the same problem parking my 2500 anywhere in the downtown Seattle garages. No way can they fit a 22' rig. The only cure was a used sedan.
But... took the beast up to the passes today, and the long wheelbase and 4x4 was awesome in the heavy snow. No chains needed today.

We towed our 2014 25 FB Flying Cloud with our 2010 Ford F-150 4wd XLT (with the Hensley Hitch installed by Can-Am) from the Niagara peninsula to Halifax last fall, putting on about 8,000 km (5,000 mi) on the rig. We had been due for new tires, and so we replaced the stock ties with Andy Thomson recomended slightly smaller and stiffer Goodyear Triple Tred tires-much more stable, less wobbly. Great ride and stable as a rock, especially with extremely strong side winds on Route 20 from Rimouski to Montreal. Lease on truck ends in the the fall and looking for a new tow vehicle. May get an Edge Ecoboost.

Correction: after 380 days in inventory, dealer sold the gasser the day after I re-invoiced it. Customers come first, so I had the re-invoice backed out and let the customer have their truck. I found another 2013 ext cab, reg. bed, Duramax at another dealer. So that's the way we roll this year.

My '64 Lincoln has a 5000 lb. towing capacity. It tows the 22' Safari easily, and in comfort.

I just watched a YouTube of Wally Byam's Mexico Caravan from the 1950s. Wow! Talk about some cool tow vehicles!

Pappy19, the mileage on that v10 has to be a killer, yes? No trouble towing that 30' rig though! How do you do in full tow?

I gat an average of 8.7 mpg towing at 65-75 depending on the terrain. But, my oil changes average $19, my fuel filters are $10 and my engine didn't cost $8,000 extra to start off with. Not to mention that the Ford V-10 is probably the most reliable engine ever made in the past 15 years when you look at the TSB's and history of problems with all of the gas and diesel engines. Just think of all of the Class C motor homes with V-10's!! No other engine in history has been used in Class C and even a lot of Class A motor homes than the lowly V-10 from Ford. I had had many diesel engines in my past life including Ford and Chevy, and I'd take my 3 Valve Ford V-10 over all of them. So what if my mileage isn't a few miles lower than a diesel; I don't have to worry about fuel problems, $100 oil changes, Regen-sootbags, lifting the cab to service, $50 fuel filters, $75 urea fills and problems, added fuel costs, etc. When someone says that diesels are just as cheap to run as gassers, it makes me laugh. Again, if you want to run a diesel, go for it, but it is a "want" rather than a "need" to tow an Airstream.

Ouch! Methinks we touched on a sore spot.
Pappy19, in general I would agree with you. I own a diesel F250 Crew Cab, and I don't get any better mileage towing my 30' than you do... Maybe 10 on flatland towing with no wind, but certainly no better than that. With fuel prices being 75 cents higher per gallon than gas, and all of the other costs you mention, there's no way to justify the diesel unless you're going to run it 500,000 miles.

The V10 ford is a great engine, the powersstrokes are hot rods, but when considering the down time and maintenance.and repair cost...... Well give me a gas motor.
We are getting 180K And over 200k with these engines in HEAVY towing (26,000 gross). they just don't break.
If you haven't gathered, I am a little put out with diesel pickups.

pappy, you are paying $19 for 6 quarts of oil and an oil filter? $10 for a fuel filter is a fair price. I carry a spare now.

I have a 2013 Ford F150 FX4 with ecoboost and the tow package. It replaced a 2004 Nissan Titan that was totaled last year. The Titan got at best 10 mpg towing. The Ford gets 14 mpg with a full load in the bed and the 1992 Sovereign 21 packed for a two month trip.

That's surprisingly low...are you sure there isn't something wrong? I mean, 11 mpg is about the lowest we ever get in our truck when towing the trailer.
