Jeep Liberty Diesel as TV

Hi, I am brand new to this forum and considering purchase of a 16' or 19' AS (probably fairly new). I am considering a 2006 Liberty Diesel as TV. Anyone have experience with this vehicle? From the specs I have gathered, it is rated at 5000 lb trailer weight and 750 lbs tongue weight, curb weight = 4296; GVWR = 5600; GCWR = 10,150.

The Liberty wheelbase is rather short. This is also an important factor in towing. What you are proposing is probably doable, but you should seriously consider a high-end hitch system for this trailer/TV combo.

Probably do-able, but not optimal. With the 118" wheelbase Sprinter van that I tow with, the trailer doesn't lever the van at all, even in side winds, so I don't need/desire sway control or weight distribution. You likely will with a Liberty.

???.... If the Liberty is pulling a the same and it's tail is on the ground it won't be any better.

The key is going to be the quality of the connection hardware and adjustments.

104" wheelbase, as others have said, doable but...

The Hensley or ProPride is most likely needed.

Maybe there is someone here with Liberty experience that can give first-hand advise.

My diesel is a sweet ride, my daughter prefers it. I spent $3,000 at least in getting our Diesel Weasel right. Try the LostKJ website, there is a CRD section to get a thorough understanding of the Liberty CRD. Would not buy it without the Lostkj folks. I tell people ask me in a hundred thousand miles if it is worth it. It has more torque than my v-8 pickup, gets between 18-28 mpg and I do get happy feet. The transmission is a 6 speed, well 5 and the 6th is a passing gear.
In the rest of the world it is rated for 7,000 lbs, it is a world car, more sold in the rest of the world I think. I tow our double axle firewood trailer and it smoothes out the ride just fine.
I have not towed the Airstream my frame is rusty but I am looking to either fix this one or buy another.
Do your homework on the CRD you buy, do visit the Lostkj site.
I love the rattle.
