Are you new?

Toyota bought some publicity with the shuttle-towing stunt.

Steve's not new, we joined at the same time. He is giving me a hard time like friends do. Of course, I don't know that his 3/4 ton brand new truck could pull the space shuttle.

With more posts then obsessive-compulsive me, I knew he's not new, though clearly only just over 1/4th as crazy about AIRForums as you.

Yea, Gene, your truck is what you said, so show us. Who knows what was done to THE truck that actually did tow the space shuttle.

They used a stock truck.

If I go to the various places they have shuttles with my tow chain, I don't think they'll let me try. However, as soon as I get wheels on the Queen Mary, I'll tow that.

I wonder if we are all obcom? Meds please.

I think anyone with more than 2500 posts is at least suspect of being obsessive compulsive...

Ok.

a) my truck IS the space shuttle and

b) I don't have 2500 posts but I fear I may be obsessive/compulsive as I check this forum 2500 times a day searching for those aluminum nuggets of wisdom. I also REALLY wish I were camping right now!!!

Your lower post count could be an indication that you may be merely obsessive, without having the compulsion to write about it.

When you start bumping your own threads, or just posting "yes" or "x2", then you really have a problem.

Now that we're spending about half our time at another house we are remodeling and have no internet there yet, life is becoming very strange. I go into town with my iPad to update things, but I hate "typing" on it, and ignore the Forum for several days. I have handled it pretty well, but stresses are building and I may have to go to rehab. It is a good place to me celebs and politicians.

Now to go post the same thing on the other EB thread, and maybe start a few more.

SURE they did.

And my Dodge Ram Cummins will pull a five mile long loaded coal train...........up hill.

Like my dad used to say, "The first liar doesn't have a chance".

The only thing I don't like is the mileage for short distances. Until the truck warms, it's very expensive to run. As my daily commute is short - this is not the most economical vehicle for the job.
Those are nice numbers. Ford doesn't show any truck close to those payload numbers on their "build your own" website, especially for a Lariat. Maybe things changed for 2013....

You can still build a truck with even higher payload. Lariat SuperCrew 157" WB,
4x4 Ecoboost is 2310 lb,
4x4 5-liter is 2330 lb,
4x2 Ecoboost is 2000 lb
4x2 5-liter is is 2620 lb.

2013 Ford F-150 | View Payload Specifications | Ford.com

The brochure shows a 4x2 SuperCrew Ecoboost configuration that's 2620 lb but I guess you can't build that with a Lariat.

Hi, SteveH; Nothing was done to the Toyota truck. The Space Shuttle was mounted on powered dollies.

Those payload numbers are in the regular brochure. The second pearl of wisdom from Ford in another hard to find document then mentions in passing that one must deduct about 480 pounds from the 1,900 pound payload to go from a bare F-150 eco-boost to a King Ranch model because of all the gizmos and trim. Suddenly, my 1,200 pound tongue weight means I can just barely get in the truck with a tooth brush and wave good bye to the wife as I drive out of the sub-division.

Now, how is that for a visual?
