Hey pappy, never thought I would own a Dodge but after a flawless 50K miles on our first one we have another. The new truck's are all nice and a good value for towing Airstreams.

That will be interesting for those of us towing Airstreams. I was surprised how nice going from 6-spd to 8-spd was; smooth shifting and engine speed transition. Great for engine compression braking.

I just returned from a dealership today ordering a 2017 F250 and asked about the 10 speed transmission. It is slated to go in the 2017 F150's. It will be first out in the Raptors which have a beefed up 3.5 EB engine and then put into the production F150's later in the year.

Glad to hear you found a good one, but instead of hijacking this thread to promote a Dodge, the original question was about the F-150, the most popular vehicle in America and there is a reason it is, reliability and functions. Right now in the Boise area, the Dodge dealers are taking $20,000 off MSRP to try and dump as many trucks as possible. Imagine what that will do to their re-sale value and depreciation. No thanks, I'll take a Ford any day.

It will be interesting to see how many of the twin turbo eco-boost Ford engines last to 250,000 miles let alone the typical Cummins life of at least 500,000 miles.

I just saw that the new 2017 F250 comes with a nifty feature, a user installed camera for mounting on the rear of a trailer. Its video is then linked to the factory screen in the dash.

Glad you like them. I run with a construction crowd and the Dodges don't hold up with Fords or even the GM.

Been looking at this for some time. Here are some thoughts, might agree or not. I own a 2013, F-150, Eco Boost, Platinum screw, tow package. Looking at 25 foot AS. On mine, before the aluminum body, with 800 pounds of tongue weight, a Hensley or ProPride hitch, full tank of fuel, two people, I have maxed out my TV capacity. It will handle the trailer with no problem but I am thinking there are several people who are overloading their TV. May or may not lead to future problems. I have decided, if I do not get an Interstate, to get the 2017 F 250. That way, I will not have to worry about each and every thing I want to carry in the TV, will have way more capacity for towing any trailer in the AS line and not have to worry about the potential overload. Thats why they make more than one model.

Well said.
I towed my 25FC with a 2011 F150 EB Platinum Screw and it pulled very well in many types of terrain. It had an 1100 payload and by time you get full tanks of gas, spouse, dogs, hitched up and the other misc items you take on a lengthy trip the payload is about out if not over payload limit. When I went to the 2015 F150EB Platinum Screw I gained some payload, up to 1530 something. Went to 28FC with ProPride hitch and still in same situation with payload. Scale verified. With the way we travel for months at a time and through various mountain areas, I made the decision to upgrade the TV to a 2017 F250 Platinum with the 6.7 PSD to gain not only the stronger brakes as well as exhaust brakes, but the gained payload flexibility to carry more if needed. Now just waiting on the 2017 to get here in late Aug or Sept.

Your 2011 has the same payload as mine, it is not the trailer that is the problem, it is the payload limited to 1100. As I see it, the F 250 diesel opens up a whole new world of trailers. The 2017 is going to have partial aluminum, cutting about 350 pounds. They are saying it will have the largest payload and towing capacity in the history of the 250. Cant wait to get one. I love the 150 and the torque is amazing, just needs more payload. The largest diesel tank available in the 2016 250 is around 26 gallons. Titan makes a great replacement tank at 50 gallons and that is the first thing i will add.

I bet the 2017 F250 is going to be a great truck. the pictures look great and it sounds like they made a number of improvements. I went with the GM only because I didn't have the nerve to order a truck I hadn't driven. I did drive the Ram and it is also amazing. The 3/4 tons have come a long way.
This was great input and help.

You can save $8-9,000 with the 6.2 gas engine and still have the advantage of the F250 carriage. With the standard 3.73 rear end and 6 speed tranny, it is a very nice rig. Much less maintenance costs as well over a diesel. Try one out before you go with a diesel, been there done that and I will never go back to a diesel.

visited Ford today and discussed new 17 models coming out. They are accepting early orders on F250; negatives for me on this size are driving around town, even small 6.5 bed is too much hassle for parking, etc..and small bed only has 25 gallon tank. My Platinum F150 EB 4X4 short bed super crew is great ride and has big fuel tank; I want a half T with lots of torque, range in fuel, no hassle gas engine, short bed, some compression breaking help, at least 8 speed, and nice ride. Looked at Ford today and Dodge; now thinking the 6.2 Silverado with HD tow looking pretty good at this point. Ford and Chrysler "truck" sales experts I talked with today could not argue. Still have 20K and 1 year time on my 100K F150 warranty before I pull the trigger, but leaning toward the GM at this point after test ride and specs. Hope you all can help me with my decision over coming months with your experiences...good for us all. God Bless you diesel guys...just not for me with 3/4 T for city driving...

As you search for your next truck, one thing to consider is the turning radius of the truck... My last Platinum F-150 with the 5 1/2' bed required 47 feet to turn around... Our new Ram 2500 requires 44'! Driving and parking the Ram in tight places (we live in New England...everything is tight here!) is actually easier than it was in the Ford and the Ram is something like 6" longer in length overall.
I kind of liked the GM trucks too but wanted a tighter turning radius. Just another data point to confuse the decision...
