Brr it is cold outside tonight...

Camped out in Pie Town, New Mexico,, 16 degrees F outside and 72 degrees f inside. Learned about the Heat Pump Aux.Heat. On the Duo Therm Comfort Control, It turns the furnace on when the outside temp gets 30 degrees even if the Heat Pump is selected. Good to know I have plenty of LP tonight.

We stayed in Pie Town when we visited New Mexico this summer. We were in this area to visit the VLA, did you go there too? When we were there the radio telescopes were in a tight configuration making it a great Airstream / dish photo opportunity for us. :-)

Low temp record for us.

Hi, on 10/10/09 in South Dakota we hit a record low for us. Previously our record was 28 degrees. We stayed at the Crazy Horse camp ground and out of approximately 120 spaces, we were the only ones there.

Survived the night with a low of 11 degrees. It was nice and tosty here inside the Bambi, sure beats tent camping.

Wow, I think out of 40 days/nights in our bambi this summer, we had only a handful of nights where we didn't have the furnace going. Mind you, we had snow in June, several times in July, mid-Aug...

We turned our AC on for 5 minutes in late Aug just for kicks, and to see what it was like (man those things are noisy!). The good news is that you can get a lot of burn time out of a 25lb tank it seems - the battery, on the other hand...

We have a couple of Honeywell radiators that we've had for years; work well.

embarrassed, but still clueless

Okay, I was raised in NM, spent a great deal of time hiking, camping and exploring the whole state. So, when first reading this thread, I thought: "...where the heck is Pie Town?" So at lunch I grabbed the Atlas(t) and still couldn't find it. So I am clueless.
By the way, check out this photo of NM-yeah, I know, it is hot there, but it is a dry heat! This photo is of Southern NM near Hatch.

Pie Town, NM is west of I25, south of I 40, near the Continental Divide.

Hi, Vinnie. This is the oil filled heater that we us. I like the size shape and performance of it. Kenwood Model # TRN0812TK I think Honeywell and maybe a few others put their name on this exact same heater. Lowes and Home depot sold these.

Samething, but different name.

Hi, here's another oil filled heater just like mine but has a different name. Amazon sells this one. Delongi TRN0812T

Mike just out of curiosity what do you do about your holding tanks if anything? I understand the trailers have closed underbelly and heater ducts to the tanks but on my moho the tanks are pretty much exposed and I find no evidence of any nearby heater duct.

We were in Wyoming 2 weeks ago and ran into the highway closed due to snow storms. With all things considered we decided it would be prudent to turn around and head West.

I avoid having much in them while traveling in freezing weather. Here at the KOA we're plugged in with both valves open. I can't use the water hose, so I fill the tank a little bit every day and use the aux. pump.
