Queen to Twin Beds Any Advice?

I am thinking about changing my queen sized bed to two twins, in my 25'FB Safari. Has anyone out there done this themselves or had it done at the dealer? I can order in the $2000. worth of "stuff" from Airstream and pay $1000 in labour from our dealer to have it installed, or do it myself.
Any advice?

There's no reason you can't do it yourself, using parts for a rear twin setup. A possible issue may be if there is "stuff" built under the queen that would have to be relocated.
That said, if you can afford it, and don't want to mess with it, you can pay the dealer to do it, and just go pickup the finished product when ready. If you are handy, you can tackle the job yourself. If you do that, you can point to it, and say "I did that!"

With twins set-up, the fresh water tank usually goes under one of them, and I would suspect that the Queen might have a differently configured tank...maybe not, but I tend to suspect Murphy in all things...landline H2O supply, pre-existing plumbing/wiring/storage are considerations...

I am wondering if Annemac has started this project. I am especially curious since I am planning to widen my twin beds from 33" to ?. I am wondering what type of project this will be. I realize that I will have to remove the center cabinet, but I can easily find another one. Thanks.

goods on the way

We have decided to go the do-it-yourself route and ordered the parts through our dealer. They are supposed to arrive sometime in early September and then the adventure begins...I'll keep you posted.
The mattresses are 34" wide by 78" long, even though in the floorplans it says they are 32" for our 25'FB. For all the other floorplans they show 34", but we did not notice this until just this past weekend, but on the spec sheets we got with our order, they list 34" as the size provided.

Conversion

Interesting - as I would like to do the same thing in my 30' Classic. One question that comes to mind is what would happen to the rear access door??? It would appear that the door would open up into the nightstand base as well as the inside corners of the twin beds. Maybe this wouldn't be a problem??? Does the twin bed setup include wardrobes over the foot of the twin beds? Take photos of your progress!

I will also be following your conversion. I simply want to widen my twin beds from 33" to 36'-37". Thanks again.

The results of my effort to do this can be found under a search "queen to twin conversion" (I don't know how to attach the link). I was able to use the existing queen base to make the two bases for the twins so I did not have to purchase anything from AS. Not difficult but defiinitely a slow process for me. I also had my dealer install a rear door as is found on the twin models, really gave me a lot of storage. Probably not a smart expense for you since yours is a front bedroom.

Is the dealer providing only the bed parts? You know that tiny little outide storage compartment just in front of the water heater? An original 25' FB SE twin bed Safari has two other large storage compartments -- one 4' wide access door is right over the battery compartment and a 2' wide door gives access to the remaining 4' compartment under the roadside twin. Just a thought...

I won't have my Safari in the drive until the weekend but could provide pictures.
