Pink insulation

Dose anybody have a source for the correct thickness of pink fiberglass insulation or do I have to strip the 3.5 inch bats to fit in the walls.I tried it and the results were not that good

Thanks

I split the 3.5" bats in half on my Liner rebuild.

You can buy unfaced fiberglass insulation from a variety of sources. I have purchased it from Home Depot in the past. As far as the width you will probably have to split your own.

I was perusing the aisles of one of our local "big box" home improvement stores yesterday and found that they had 2" foil faced fiber-glass insulation labeled for use as pipe wrap in 16" wide rolls...that might help.

I used split 3 1/2" batts. I think you just need to try a few more to get used to the splitting technique. It wasn't too hard once I got into it.

Wear gloves and sleeves.

Yes, just split the 3 1/2 thick batts. Use the longest pair of scissors you can find and just go for it. You get twice as many pieces for your trouble. Resist the urge to stuff the 3 1/2 thick piece in there, it won't insulate as good as a thin, uncompressed piece. Do yourself a favor and look for formaldehyde free insulation. I think JM makes it. Then after you quit for the day, scrape your skin down with the edge of a sharp credit card to get all those glass fibers off. You'll itch less if you do.

Cheers

Bill
