Can anyone give me a tip on how to remove the towel bars in my center bath Excella 500? Based on the back of the soap holder that I can see inside the bath cabinet, it looks as though they are held in place by a hex nut on the back of the shower wall.
I don't want to tear out the walls to get them out.
Any ideas?

Hi Wannaroam, Is there a small set screw on the underside of the arms attached to the walls? If so, loosen this screw and remove the arms giving you access to the mounting plates. Then remove the plates.
Don't know if this will help but if you did not see a screw on the outside is there a seam that can be pried apart that may be snapped together over the actual screw into the wall? That is the way we got at our new shower bar. There was no visible access in the outer casing.
EDIT: I see upon rereading now that it is visible and Lee had it handled.
Ok, I checked this out and having gotten nowhere, I called my husband to help. He confirmed that there was no set screw to be found. They apparently do bolt in from the back so we were forced to cut them off the wall.
I've done a lot of remodeling in my time and I've never seen a towel bar that bolts on from behind with no way of taking it off from the front. Try grasping both end parts that stick out from the wall - thumbs on the under side of each and lifting up and back towards the wall. I have seen them mounted by just hooking over the top of the screwed on wall bracket and then snapping in place over the bottom of the bracket.

Well it makes no sense to me not to have some access to these from the front, but we couldn't see it. Luckily we don't want to keep them anyway so the hubby used a saw and got them off.
