Resident State Taxes for Full-timers

Background:
Currently I do not have a trailer but plan to move into one within the next year. I rent an apartment (in North Carolina) now but own 2 rental properties in Georgia and North Carolina.
Question:
How will I determine my State of residence after I permanently move into my AS? Are there certain States where there are tax advantages to retirement income that I could call my permanent residence?
Thanks for your comments, I'm not looking for legal opinions just experiences from fellow AS full-timers. Also let me know of any articles or books that may be used as a reference...

If you are registered to vote that is your state of residence.
Pick a state that does not have a tax consequences.
